Today all they do is video games, TV, cellphones, etc....

They had outhouses at the summer camp I used to go to.. I was afraid to go to the potty during the night... They told us that a snake would jump out of the potty and bite us!!!!!

Hugs,
BetsyBetsy Banks Adamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16223591156634767330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-162042727452052782.post-10403744779234887532010-04-25T19:51:32.002-04:002010-04-25T19:51:32.002-04:00This was a very good recollection. I will admit for two little girls wanting to play what sounds a bit like rugby, I can hear me saying the same thing: no crying!Caronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05799102663192977025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-162042727452052782.post-78860777605829170132010-04-25T11:46:12.344-04:002010-04-25T11:46:12.344-04:00I enjoyed this post very much, Rose. Instead I think of pines, tents, walking trails, the great outdoors....EG CameraGirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12803759124643467711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-162042727452052782.post-50856179158431575252010-04-24T16:42:05.504-04:002010-04-24T16:42:05.504-04:00These photos really did bring back some memories f...These photos really did bring back some memories for you! What an interesting look at your childhood and schooling. You would think that in a small school like that everyone would get lots of individual attention. I remember outhouses at the farms of a couple of my relatives. I never liked using them.Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02890796903959709429noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-162042727452052782.post-42062994956384414382010-04-24T11:57:56.561-04:002010-04-24T11:57:56.561-04:00When I was 6 years old the house that we lived in ...When I was 6 years old the house that we lived in had an outhouse. I can't recall, though, if we ever used it. Dad knocked it down; can't remember when. Very interesting recollections of your grade school days. On the farm our outhouse was bullt on sled runners so dad could hook on the horses to drag it to a new pit when needed. An outhouse in the winter was so bad I've blocked out all the memories of that experience! :-)donhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11683101466651668784noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-162042727452052782.post-62087476286818944602010-04-24T10:37:09.039-04:002010-04-24T10:37:09.039-04:00Rose: So much fun to look back at older times. They are really cold in the winter. This Is My Blog - fishing guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03826128050970967135noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-162042727452052782.post-45197671365229456932010-04-24T09:28:36.912-04:002010-04-24T09:28:36.912-04:00This is a terrific post...I like the photos very m...This is a terrific post...I like the photos very much...that tree is rather large and magnificent.

But your school/outhouse stories are just plain fun.

My grandmother had an outhouse on her farm in northern Minnesota...all I can remember was how cold it was, and using old Sears & Roebuck catalogs for toilet paper!

Why are so many principals such doofuses? In my experience as a teacher, administrators by and large were those who couldn't teach very well and/or didn't like kids!Lowellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15305748075301453010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-162042727452052782.post-83419520453709759312010-04-24T08:55:51.787-04:002010-04-24T08:55:51.787-04:00Interesting post Rose. I enjoyed reading yours. My husband grew up going to school with only about 27 kids in his class. They would come and go through the years and he talks about a few teachers like your Principal/Teacher.
Oh, and my husband loved seeing the knives in the previous post.Judy https://www.blogger.com/profile/07886053115520735923noreply@blogger.com
