The tree

This is the tree that the dark leaf in yesterday's post came from.  I just love to watch it change.

*****

I almost forgot that it was my night to post.  I try to do every other night.  Sometimes I just simply get other things on my mind and don't think.

I made a pot of vegetable soup this morning.  I managed to not make a HUGE one...it is still a lot.  I just simply love soups.  Roger ate a bowl but probably won't want another.  That is okay...I can eat vegetable souple for 3 or 4 days and not be tired of it.

I just sat and sewed more on my binding...a couple more needles of thread and it will be done.  All corners have been finished.  They are the tedious part of it since I make a mitered corner and I like them to look as nice as I can make them.  They are still not perfect.

I hope you have a good day tomorrow...

From the back yard...

There is the above, and then there is below

I just love watching the color change.

**********

Nothing exciting today.  And that can be very good.  Though there are places I would love to go, I try to be thankful I can do what needs to be done.  All I have to do is think back to when I fell in 2018 and it puts things into perspective.

I have had a couple or three days where I did not touch my binding.  One day I was just too tired to even wiggle by the time I sat down.  One day I was upstairs for something and had to sit and wait just a few minutes so thought I would sew scraps together.  My foot pedal would not work. (It is basically the gas pedal of a sewing maching)  I picked it up from the floor and noticed the wire to the thread cutter had spots where the wire was bare.  Just a couple tiny ones.

So on one of my trips to walmart I got electricians tape and yesterday was the first chance I got to go wrap the bare spots.  There were only two little ones.  And it is not like the electricity runs through it all the time.  The thread cutter is beside the pressure foot..but has separate wires.

The pressure foot would work for a couple inches then stop...and next time I pressed did not work.  I tried looking on line to find it and what to do for it.  I never could find my exact foot...but found a place that said to take foot pedals apart and clean if they stopped working.  Well, I worked and worked and finally got it till I could sort of see inside, and I used Qtips to wipe as much dust as I could.  I could see nothing that looked wrong.  But this was not like I had it all the way apart.  It was opened up at one end about an inch or so but still hinged at the back end.

I cleaned as good as I could and then had to work at getting it back together...and how it slipped back into place is more than I know but it did, and I took it upstairs and it seems to be working fine.

I looked and looked yesterday trying to find an alternative to it, but no luck.  I did find two places that had had one at one time.   Maybe it will be fine from now on...but I sure would like to find a back up pressure foot.

That is it for tonight...

Not much going on...

At one time I knew what this is called but I have long since forgotten. I do think it is beautiful.

I have did very little this day other than fixing food and washing dishes.  I did go to Walmart and Tractor Supply with my daughter.  I had not exactly forgotten an item or two at Walmart, but was just sure I had some left only to find that I didn't.  Then I also got a couple more items.  Do you always find 'other stuff' when you go to walmart.  I do, not that they aren't needed, just that I don't have to buy them then.  But I get them in case something happens and I can't get back for some reason.

Before Covid hit, I had started buying some things ahead, such as toilet paper, till I would not have to buy them in winter.  Less to fool with in the cold.  I have not did that here, but I will probably start with a few things that I have to buy all the time.  I have several things that are delivered by amazon.  I like that because it is less I have to shop for, less I have to carry out of the store and into the house.

But during it all, I only did pick up one time.  I would like to do that now for some of the bulkier items, but hate the idea of having to be somewhere at a certain time.  Cause again, I never know what is going ot happen. Most mornings go smoothly, but not all.  Still, I do want to try it again.  Did you do pick up, and do you still do it?
