Clay's Prairie United Methodist Church

I came across this little church on my ramble today...out in the middle of no where. There was one house close by, but not any others in sight. It always amazes me to find these little churches out like this. They seemed to be scattered all over this land of ours. I always wonder how long they have been there...just think of all that their walls have seen come through their doors. Weddings, baptisms, potluck dinners, and funerals...
Oh, notice the outhouse in the background of the third photo.

  1. Hi,
Thank you for your very kind comments on my sky watch.Your photos are lovely and I'm sure those beautiful little churches could tell a tale or two.I love the sound of a pot-luck dinner. Is this where everyone brings something and it all gets put together? Whatever,it certainly sounds fun.

  2. Hi Rose
Thank you for all of your visits, comments and well your friendship of late. I enjoy stopping by here, seeing where you have been, seeing what you post and reading about your life.
This is another great post about your world, we do not have churches like this, in fact church going is something most folks do not do anymore.. When you say 'out house' would I be right thinking these are outside toilets/loo's as we call them?

Hope you enjoyed Sky Watch yesterday... and you have gotton over the earthquake.. I was telling Jane about it last night andshe smiled at me and said it was a long time since she felt the earth move.. ..ha! how bad is she?

  3. Hi Rose,
    These are lovely shots.
I just visited my Mom Thursday and took a picture of a country church from my childhood I'm going to past sometime later.
I like the forsythia in the front of this one.

  4. We felt the earthquake here, too (near Chicago). Well, not me personally... I was sound asleep. But a bunch of my neighbors and coworkers did.

Isn't that a wasp hive in the arched window?

    Love them clouds!
