I was quite surprised when I found the photo of the writing spider in action...most of the slides that I come across, I don't remember taking. There are a few that bring back vivid memories, but even those are more of the emotions of the moment rather than remembering exactly when or where. From what someone else told me on another post, what we always called a writing spider is actually an orb spider. Very harmless, except to the victims that get caught in its web.

Garden spider revisited....

Beautiful Rose! I'd hate to get tangled in his web.
ReplyDeleteAlthough Im okay with snakes, mice, rats, bats (just not in my house) I admit I've never been much of a spider person - but then my experience was mostly with wolf spiders, the free-roaming quick- scampering kind. But a spider like this can be observed from a "safe" distance, and they stay put. The term writing spider is new to me, but I love it; it'll be part of my vocabulary from now on. Beautiful lighting on the web strands, too. Still, this photo gave me the tiniest chill. More desensitizing is needed!
ReplyDeleteRose, NICE PICS I must admit the sunflower is more enjoyable then the spider, but the spider name is interesting!
ReplyDeleteDon't like spiders - but that sunflower is GREAT!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I've seen a writing spider.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Rose!
ReplyDeleteLove the shadows on the flower.
Don't know how I missed this post, but it's funny because I was just discussing this type spider on someone in England's blog. Small world! I always think their webs are interesting.
