Buzzards and Blue Skies for Sky Watch

I just have to post these...I have seen buzzards before and seen several at one time but never like today. These are just a few of the images I captured--admittedly the best. And they could be just a bit better. The top image, which was actually the very last one I took of them, gives you a clue to how many they were. My husband was able to count 28 at one time. I really wish some of my other shots had been better...they were flying so close to me. They were just all around! And no it wasn't for something dead. They were sunning themselves down on the side of the dam.

If you want to join Sky Watch, see the Sky Watch Blog, which is hosted by Tom, Imac, Sandy Carlson, and Klaus.

  5. I wonder why they were all together like that! I'd think hunting sol or in pairs would mean more food if they did find something. Oh well, guess I don't think like a vulture. ;-)

  9. It's slightly ominous to see these birds in the sky (at least in this area). Luckily the sky doesn't support that ominous feeling!

  25. These are great. I have tried to get photos of the Turkey Vultures before. It is hard. For one they usually do not come low enough. I saw 2 today that were fairly low. I was driving at the time, naturally. You did good.

  36. Those are great shots and I really like the one on the guard rail! Don't you love seeing stuff like that and getting some decent shots? It's so frustrating when you find out the shots you thought you had aren't in focus.

  44. Looks like you're the Hitchcock of SWF this week Rose. How's your memory? Have you remembered what you were going to say about my photo?

    ReplyDelete
  45. We used to call buzzards "country airplanes," then we'd say, "give me a nickel and I won't tell them where you are." 'cause you know they were looking for something dead and stinkin'
thanks for evoking a memory and a smile!
Thanks too for your visit and comments on my blog! :)
