We came across and hit the Mississippi River right below Eau Claire, Wisconsin and followed it down into Illinois a ways. I do not have one decent shot of it because the sun was just at the right height and we were there at the wrong time. It was still fun to see, though. We did not cross it; both of us were just ready to head for home.
These are a few scenes from the drive...I love that vine covered silo or crib or whatever it was. It was in Wisconsin. The others I am not to sure where they were...I think Illinois. the northwest corner is so beautiful--big wide valleys with rolling hills. It felt like you could see forever. And there were a few places that really looked and felt like Eastern Tennessee.
We ended up in a run-down motel last night...I will leave the rest to your imagination. I would have taken over the driving, but that would not have did much good. We were out in the middle of no where, with no major road to get on and just go...we both had to be awake for one to navigate and the other to drive. I guess I should put a GPS navigation thing on my Christmas wish list!
I am so weary...I am stopping on this now. It may take me a day or two to get back to normal. But I will catch up with everyone.
Looking forward to seeing more shots of your trip home. These are nice.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to get away but also wonderful to return home. I'm glad you had a safe trip! Too bad you'll have the memory of the rundown motel...although, someday you may be able to laugh about it. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou've certainly seen a lot of wonderful stuff! I like that vine covered silo, too. My husband is already shopping for a GPS after our last trip :-) Coming home is always great. No matter how good of time I've had, I start thinking about home and what I left behind.
ReplyDeleteGood shots. It is beautiful up in that corner of the world....in the spring, summer, and fall. :) I just got another GPS for transferring some money to Ameritrade...... A Garmin nuvi 760 ($499 in a lot of places). I have all the cemeteries, Cracker Barrels, Pizza Huts, McDonalds, Wendys, and of course Walmarts that are marked loaded in it.
ReplyDeleteNice shots Rose!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're back safely and will look forward to seeing all the sights. I'm sure you have some lovely photos to share.
I've never been to Wisconsin or Northern Illinois, but I have to say that the scenes in your pics look a lot like around here in Southeast Missouri - the rolling hills, the colorful fields, the highways, etc.
ReplyDeleteNice shots!
Oh I forgot to answer your question about the movie "All Of Me" w/ Lilly Tomlin - No, I don't think I've seen that one - I'll have to rent it though - she cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting & the comments - not to mention returning after my somewhat long hiatus from blogging. I appreciate you!
Wow! What a wonderful ride! Hope recoupe soon!
ReplyDeleteHow I would love to take that trip. Your photos are gorgeous!
