Today's leaves and happenings...

I don't quite know where to begin...with the pictures or with this day. I guess I will go with the pictures since they fall first.
This is the cottonwoods across the street. When I was trying to round up my cats the other morning, I happened to notice how the sunlight was hitting the first of three cottonwoods. I loved how the leaves just seem to have a golden glow.
Since I was having no success in calling Cougar home, I came in and got my camera and tried to capture that glow...I didn't succeed. I don't know why I didn't bracket some shots....I do that all the time when taking snow scenes but didn't think to do it with these.
I think I have got them adjusted till they will show up right on the computer, but not real sure. After I publish the post, I will check it out on the desktop computer and see how they look there.
Now for today. I am not sure, but don't think I mentioned that a month or 6 weeks ago...my husband stubbed his little toe on his right foot. Not once, not twice, but three times. Each time was almost harder than the time before. The last time he went barefoot out in the garage for something and kicked a cast iron jack stand with it, and moved it 5 or 6 inches.

That little toe gradually started bothering him worse and worse--felt like someone had hold of it squeezing real hard. He could not stand for the covers to be on it, and most shoes bothered it, especially if he was walking on uneven ground. So he had an appointment with a podiatrist 3 or 4 weeks ago. The doctor suggested surgery.

So today we had to be in Terre Haute at the hospital at 6:30 this morn. The doctor cut out a nerve, as well as a sort of spur on the tip of one of the bones. We were back home by 11:00 a.m. or so...the surgery itself only took about 15 minutes...we got there early in order to hurry up and wait. I no more than got home till I realized I had forgotten to drop of the prescription for pain meds, so I had to turn around and take that to the pharmacy....had to wait an hour for it to be filled.

And though the story is not mine to be made public, will just say that we also spent Wednesday at the hospital with someone else. I don't know about anyone else, but just sitting in the hospital tires me a whole lot more than an actual job. I am relieved that today is over with...I know it is going to be hard on my husband to just sit around....but surely he can manage that till the 10th, which is when he gets the stitches out.

I just checked the pictures on the desktop, and they look pretty darn good. Of course, I am prejudiced.

Hope he heals quickly. Yeah, it's much easier to be the patient than to be on the other side of the bed.

Hope everyone is having a Happy Halloween and Blessed Samhain!

The pictures look fine to me on my monitor. I feel for both of you. We just don't expect a stubbed toe to lead to this result. Heal quickly!

A fast recovery to him!

And nothing tires you out more that having to do nothing...hospital waits, plane flying....ug!

Ow wow, that's quite a day for you both and ouch, I felt for your hubby but also for you. My other half stubbed a toe and broke it about 15 years ago. I had a heavy wooden tray fall on my foot a while back and I still have problems with it. Speedy recovery to your hubby from here in N. Virginia (USA). Now to your photos. They are really lovely and that tree is just gorgeous. You've caught the light on the leaves beautifully.

Oh my goodness Rose, what a time~prayers for your hubby and the "other reason" you were at the hospital! The waiting and the concern is always the toughest on those of us in the waiting room!

Your pictures are GORGEOUS, and Fall is just beautiful I think ~ I snap so many pictures and always the next time it looks more beautiful so I snap more :>)! Yep Fall pictures are always beautiful and each one unique!

I hope he heals quickly. Seems like the older we get the more we have to deal with that kind of stuff like waiting in hospitals.

The trees look good on my computer, Rose. ;-)

I agree that sitting around waiting....especially in hospitals....is very tiring. YAWN. I do hope the toe heals quickly! And that you don't have to sit around too long in the waiting room when the stitches are removed.

Oh, those are gorgeous shots of the sun on the trees. I don't know what "bracketing" is, at last not by that term, but I can't imagine these looking any better! Hope all is well with you and yours.

Thanks for the info on bracketing; I have much to lean about cameras! And computers, too - just as I clicked on "publish your comment" I saw my URL typo go sailing off into cyberland, and didn't know how to or even if I could change it!

Ouch! Best wishes to your DH for a quick recovery. I, too, am a "stumble foot" of sorts, and have broken the "little toes" on both feet several times.

The cottonwood photos are great. Love the color.

Sounds like you have been through the wringer! I will pray that your husband's toe heals swiftly. You are right that waiting in a hosptial is a terribly tiring way to spend time....the boredom combined with the stress is just like a weight you are carrying around and can't put down until you leave. Hope tomorrow is a less stressful day for you.

Oh, I can relate somewhat to your husband's pain. I stubbed my big toe so hard on some wood my hubbie left lying on the floor that I was worried I had broken it. For over a week it hurt to be touched even by the bed covers. I think it is on the mend now though. I hope your husband is soon skipping around!

Beautiful trees. Sorry about hubby's toe. Hope it heals quickly. I make sure I always have on shoes inside or out. Too many times I have damaged a toe and it's usually the little one. Good luck keeping him down until the 10th.

Beautiful pics Rose!
I think maybe after hitting his toe three times that required surgery maybe he should just sit around for a few days! :)
