Pictures from last fall

These 'ducks' are from last fall on our trip up to Mackinaw City...I have not even tried to identify these so if you know what they are, feel free to comment. I don't know too many water birds...partly cause I have not had many to observe.
I have a sinus problem going...my nose has run and run, I have sneezed and sneezed. I don't feel quite normal, but I don't feel horrible either. Roger, on the other hand, had his sinus problem start either Christmas day or the day after, and he cannot seem to shake it. He even went to the doctor about 5 days into it. Has been through the antibiotics, and it just won't go away. I really think he needs to think about going back.

I did put on a big pot of chili--with lots of onions. I always feel like just smelling something cook that has onions helps me. I have no clue if it really does, or if it is all in my head, but it does smell good in here. At least what I can smell...

  1. Sorry to hear you (both) are having problems with your beak! Onions and birdwatching will surely help! I'd say that top bird looks like is could be a female Hooded Merganser, and the second one looks like a female Mallard, but she isn't showing us much - no leg color, no speculum color - and Mallards are notorious hybridizers anyway. I'd go with "Plainis brownwinian duckus"!

p.s. Deb is fine with me!

  2. Rose, Sorry to hear you and your hubby are under-the-weather. Hopefully that Chili will be a cure-all.

    How are your babies doing?
    Hugs,

  3. I called to check on Bubbie, and he is doing fine. I thought about going out there, but I have been sneezing so much that I hate to go in and get everyone out there sick.

Cougar is fine...his has never slowed him down.

  4. It's cold and foggy here and chili sounds really good about now!
Sorry you and Roger aren't feeling up to par. Hope you're both feeling better real soon.

Both pics are wonderful but I really like the movement of the water in the second one. I was thinking it looked like a female mallard.
Glad Bubbie is doing fine too.

  6. I'll bet the chili will cure all your ills. I'd be willing to do some sneezing for some good homemade chili!

  7. The water looks almost green in those pictures. You are having chili and didn't invite your nice brother? :)

  11. Hope your sinuses are better soon. I hate having a runny nose! 2nd is a female Mallard as noted. Don't know the first. Lovely shots of them and like the water play in the second.

  12. The color of the water in these is just dazzling. And the lighting -- especially in the first one -- is perfect.
