The signal

If you are here for Camera Critters, that post is below this one, though this one fits also.
At my house, it is a signal to Mama Squirrel when I open my dining room curtains.
So many times, I open them and in just a few minutes here she comes. And she gets on the fence post and stares until she gets a reaction from me.
Sometimes, she meets me on the back porch, and others if I am not out there instantly she hikes back across the street to the trees. I don't know if she spots one of the cats in the window or what. But this morn was one of those times she ran back across the street; I was slow cause I was actually putting on my coat and getting the camera. But it was for the best cause I got some shots of her in action, running to see what I had.
She was just a bit shy of the camera, maybe cause it is all black. My other rebel has a lot of silver on it and she did not seem to mind it. Or maybe it is just the weather...who knows.
I just thought it would be fun to feature her again...I cannot think how many years she has been coming here...I think it is finishing up 3 years but it could be 4.
She is such a sweetie...as you can see she don't mind touching me...but still won't let me pet her. Though sometimes when she is standing in my hand like this, I will use one of my fingers to scratch her under her chin, or whatever it reaches. There are times when I think she would almost jump on to my arm to get to the food.

As an added note, as you can see we are getting another skim of snow this morning. Up to an inch is predicted.

What a cutie.. She's prettier than our old gray squirrels around here. We had a huge mast crop this year --so our squirrels seem to have plenty to eat. So do the chipmunks!!!

Great pictures of your friend. You need to give her a name, Rose.
Hugs,
Betsy

WOW what neat pictures...I love them! Growing up my younger brother had a baby squirrel that he rescued from a cat, and he bottle fed it! Eventually it needed to be set free, but would come to see us occasionally! Great pics Rose!

Such a little sweetie! That first photo is a hoot! What do you think for musical accompaniement - William Tell, or maybe Ride of the Valkyries? I'm still smiling!!

I must not have been around the last time you featured her, because I don't remember seeing her!!! OMGosh, I can't believe she eats right out of your hand!! That's truly amazing!!! And, these photos are so clear - if it had been me there, they would be blurry because I'd have been shaking & nervous!! Rose, this is truly amazing - I love it - this is sooooo cool!

You got some great pictures, Rose. I'm somewhat surprised that the squirrel would eat out of your hand. I can't imagine any of the squirrels around here allowing us to do that!

Incredible photos....you are so luck y to get that close! We can't get within a mile of the squirrels round here....though that might have something to do with the pack of baying lunatic hounds that usually accompany me!
Great shots!

Wow...that is so special! I don't think I can get my squirrels to be that friendly. Wonderful photos and story.

Amazing! Beautiful fox squirrel and sooo tame!

I like your CC post also, we have a good population of wild turkeys around my area but they will not stand for a person to approach even a little.

Wow! She's like a pet! We have some squirrels that live in our Redwood in the backyard, but they are quite timid. It's always fun watching them dash around the yard though. Your pics of this one are terrific. Thanks for checking out my Scenic Sunday.

Hi - it's my first visit - came via Mary at Faith Fabric and Photos. Wonderful shots of your squirrel - so cute - lovely too that she trusts you enough to eat out of your hand.

We have squirels in our garden but they are still quite nervous. A

She's a stunner, and seems so at ease with you Rose... I featured the Grey squirrle I call Hazel on Saturday, she will take food from me also, and like yours it as to be on her terms.
I have pictures of our Grandaughter today on Wiggers World if you get the time pop over.. she is so cute, but then they all are. :O)

Adorable! Squirrels remind me of fuzzy rats. (Not a derogatory statement, I have pet rats *G*)
