This is from several years ago....kids still in high school. So over ten years ago at least.
We had these fairy rings come in our yard three or four years, and I think one year there were two of them.
I don't think I have seen a mushroom this big before or since.
The quality of the photos are not that great, but you still get the general idea.
I don't have time to write more because Miss Bright Eyes is here.
I don't think any of the fairy rings we had formed a complete circle, but there were some that you could see more of the circle than this one.
my goodness, they're huge!
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, I guess, in a year of quite a bit of rain, mushrooms pop up all over the place. We have lots of reddish-looking ones now. Yours are HUGE--and look very healthy.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with Bright Eyes.
Hugs,
Betsy
Very interesting to see such large mushrooms! Nice series. I like the ruler so we can see their size.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard the term, "fairy ring," but that doesn't mean anything as there are many things I haven't heard about!
ReplyDeleteThese mushrooms are mushrooming, for sure.
We've had some big ones, too. Different kinds. Some look like these. I call them non-flying saucers!
Thanks, Rose, for you kind comments on my blogs! Very much appreciated!
I'm very impressed with the size of the mushrooms that made up your fairy ring. I've never seen any that large.
ReplyDeleteI love fairy rings. I have a reproduction of a photograph in my bedroom from the 1920's of a girl standing in the fairy ring leaning down at all the fairies. She has a flute under her arm, as the legend is...if you get in a fairy ring you have to play for the fairies for them to release you from the fairy ring. I also have a much smaller version of it in my office at work. I collect fairies, so it was very fitting for me to have the picture. I know, more information than needed.
