This was taken out at the strip pits today...I did not know that Queen Anne's Lace had anything for a goldfinch, but this one was on top of a dried flower eating the seed I suppose. He sure is a bright little fellow, but Roger seen him first and it took me forever to actually spot him.
Super shot the Goldfinch. That is our state's bird. they are seed eaters so there ya go. MB
ReplyDeleteA fine shot of this beauty! I keep some niger seed out in a feeder, but only get an occasional visitor and rarely see the bright yellow ones. Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot...I've never seen them on Queen Anne's Lace either. They seem to favor all the yellow daisy like flowers. They do seem to find seeds everywhere at this time of year that they like :-)
ReplyDeleteI forgot to comment on the link you sent me. Those roses look to be from the same plant! The color looks exactly the same. I enjoyed seeing your version with a view showing the whole plant. Thanks for sending the link.
ReplyDeleteThat turned out well Rose!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo, Rose. Goldfinches LOVE thistle---so he was probably in 7th heaven eating that seed.
ReplyDeleteHope you all are having a wonderful day.
Hugs,
Betsy
Beautiful Goldfinch shot... especially with the Queen Annes Lace as its perch! We feed them via our feeder the Niger Seed and they love it...and we love seeing the bright yellow Goldfinch in their hurry to gobble it up! By the way Mickey has you on her blog..please take a look when you get a chance! Hope your Labor Day is one of rest and not labor!
ReplyDeleteSeems like he would turn himself around to get at it easier! Maybe he's just kissing the lady bugs that seem to be in there. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely shot!
You got a wonderful picture of the goldfinch. I would say that you and Roger make a good team!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that either. I thought goldfinches were all about thistles. I pass by a stand of thistles on my way into town, and always see a finch or two ro three... Neat shot!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture, love this shot!!! They must eat the seeds.
ReplyDeleteI just love those little things.
ReplyDeleteWell the goldfinch definitely looks interested in harvesting those seeds. I like this photo a LOT!
ReplyDeleteRose: A beautiful bird with such neat colors.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a pretty picture! Rose, every time you take about the strip pits I wish so bad I could go.
