On the drive through the strip pits the other day, we saw a couple pair of the hawks...the Northern Harriers I am just about positive.
It is amazing how fast they can disappear. It was a clear blue sky that day...not a cloud in sight as we watched both pairs. Roger and I paused to look at each other and say something, looked back and they were nowhere in sight.
I am still hoping to catch one while it is hovering...I have seen them this fall, but always in the distance. I think one of these is one I saw. They are usually fairly low when they do that....we were trying to get close enough for me to capture it and it took off and headed to where we later saw these.
I love the way you know what birds you are looking at. You're very knowledgeable. I know a goldfinch from the color and a hummingbird from the darting, but I'm a little limited after that.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots! I see those Harriers at our stripper pits, too. They must like that sort of setting. I've never gotten a very close shot, but you are right about how fast they disappear.
ReplyDeleteThey really do look like they were flying low! I think these guys are very hard to capture and you did good!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Every time I see them, I wonder how it feels; never fails to move me

ReplyDeleteAt least you caught them Rose. Any hawk to me seems to be there one minute and gone the next. :)
ReplyDeleteI think you did a wonderful job of capturing these hawks. I've never been able to get a photo of the hawks flying around here, but I'll keep trying!
ReplyDeleteNice shots Rose. I've never had much luck getting shots like these.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, Rose. I enjoy seeing them in flight like that.
ReplyDeleteHope you are feeling well now.
Hugs,
Betsy
Well, I'm impressed. It is really hard to get one of these birds in flight!
ReplyDeleteLovely shots of a beautiful creature!
I can never get hawk pictures, as badly as I want to! :-) They are such wonderful birds and I really love them. You did a great job!
