Hanging on

Today wasn't too cold, but the snow hangs on. And more is headed our way in the coming weekend. The meteorologist is not saying how much he thinks we will get, but he seems positive we will get some. I know I will feel the same thrill I always feel when it starts to fall, but in the overall scheme of things, I am ready for spring.

I am ready to sit on the front porch and have my morning cup of coffee.

I am ready to see an actual sunrise, not just the gradual appearance of light, with no show of the sun.

I am ready to feel the warm rays of sunshine on my face.

I am ready ready to cook on the grill without having to wear a jacket.

I am ready to dispose of layered clothing.

I am ready to smell lilacs!

I am ready for a nice spring rain.

I am ready to go fishing.

I am ready for these things and so much more, but

Most of all, I am ready to be outside with Lorelei.

  1. I'm still feeling the thrill of new snow, Rose, although I do feel a pull towards spring when I see flowers blooming on other people's blogs. I keep remindin myself that I muh prefer the cold of winter of the extreme heat of summer.

  3. An interesting ice-clinging shot today. I like your "I am ready" series of statements. I agree with all of them...including being outside with Lorelei...well there's a bit of a distance problem to consider....

  4. We officially have 16" of snow on the ground and more this weekend. We've had more than 5" on the ground since December 1, making this the seventy-something'th' day since I've seen grass. Since December 1, we've had 57.5 inches total. It can get above 30 degrees very often and the wind howls. I cannot imagine anymore the thrill of new snow. I don't even know what new snow is. I'm sorry, am I repeating myself??

I'm with you, Rose. I can't wait, either. It's just too soon to get excited around here.

  5. I'm ready for all these things as well -- except perhaps fishing. I'd rather go hiking instead.

  6. I'm ready for ALL of those things also, Rose---but I had to laugh when I read them. About August, I'll be ready for some cooler weather again. Life is fun, isn't it????

We had sunshine today... first since Jan. 31... Yeah!!!!! AND--I don't think we'll get the storm this coming weekend.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  7. I'm ready for Spring, too. I'm just concerned about all the snow melting at the same time. We may need a row boat!

  8. Sounds like you have an extended case of cabin fever! Hope this next snow doesn't hang around.

  10. I can sure say "amen" to this post! I'm so ready, it is all I can do to wait. At least our snow has been down graded to rain and the temps went up a little!

  12. Beautiful picture, Rose. I have no need to see or feel snow. Been there, done that. It is pretty, though.

Spring is on its way. Well, that's what someone said!
