Not so pink.....

I posted a picture of my dogwood here....when the blossoms had only been open two or three days. Can you believe this is the same dogwood? It is, but I have no way of proving it to you. I really thought this year it was going to stay pink, but as you can see all that is left is just a hint of color.

I had ran to the library today, got home and after a bit checked my email...found that Vicki from The Middle Sister blog had left this Beautiful Blogger award for Miss Lorelei. She may not realize it but she made my day. As Lorelei often does.

Our family is going through transitions...Lorelei will probably be moving in the near future. Not too far away, but not so easy to just drop by. We celebrated her mom's birthday yesterday by having a cookout. It was sort of bittersweet, knowing it

And our other daughter is taking a new job...she will go to training for four months starting next month, then be moving to the Los Angeles area. Kind of hard to describe what that feels like; I am happy because it is what she wants to do. Yet I dread her being so far away.

Anyway, this award just sort of brightened the day for me...made me think about Lorelei and the joy she is. I am really hating that her auntie will be moving so far away from her, but maybe in two or three years she can transfer back closer to home, cause Lorelei sure loves her.

I was supposed to help Lorelei decide who is going to be the recipient of the Beautiful Blogger award and was having a hard time deciding. Then I thought, now if I were Lorelei, who would I give the award to? And then it was sort of easy...I am giving it to Scout, the Bernese Mountain Dog. As much as she loves dogs and cats, it such an obvious choice...and just looking in his eyes, I bet he would love her.

Your dogwood is just beautiful and congratulations on your award, enjoying your blog as I do it is so well deserved. Lorelei Rose is the most precious little girl, I love her photo in your side bar and also enjoyed the videos very much. Her laughter is infection. I found myself smiling.

Hmm. I wonder why the dogwood is changing colour, Is the soil deficient in something?

Sorry to hear Lorelei will be a little farther away, Rose. I know this must be very hard for you!

And to have your daughter move all the way to Los Angeles is difficult too. I remember how I felt when one of my daughters moved to Massachusetts and then to New Hampshire for her job. All the best, Rose, as you work through all your emotions.

How sweet of someone to give Lorelei an award... And she would love Scout----so that is a nice place to pass the award on!!!!!

Sorry about your older daughter---but that is just what happens. They grow up and move away and start lives of their own. At least Lorelei and family won't be too far. None of my kids live very close --and even if they did, I'm sure I wouldn't see them very often. Tis Life!!!!!! (But---I know it hurts, Rose.... )

Prayers and Hugs to YOU,
Betsy

Hubs and I went out to lunch today and passed more than one pink dogwood. I remarked we needed one. We have two white ones.
I was thinking what EG said about the soil.
It isn't easy being away from daughters and granddaughers Rose but you learn to do what you can when you can. Mine are 500 miles away but we're still very close. It will all work out.

You certainly deserve this award! And the dogwood flowers are still gorgeous!

Re Johnny Rockets - it's a chain restaurant (which I didn't know) and made to look like a 60s diner...we haven't eaten there, but word is that it's very good.

It's a beautiful blossom. I can appreciate the heartfelt well wishes and sorrow at having your daughter move so far away. Over the intervening time why not start
a 'visit daughter' fund for a standby airline ticket to LA. Also get set up with a free SKYPE account and camera to you'll be able to talk and see your daughter online for free. I'm full of ways to spend money today! :-)

Lots of emotion happening for you Rose, I understand how you must feel. We want our family to follow their dreams, but sometimes for us it is painful to have them move away to reach those dreams! Lorelei is so precious, a beautiful little delight for you! I always enjoy her antics on your blog!

Congratulations on your award!

I love the flower!

You're ahead of us for sure--our buds are still pretty tiny--but--very pink.

What a nice award for Lorelei. I know how you're feeling. Our son and his family are moving to Texas, that's soooo far away from here. I need to get a dogwood tree. The blooms are so pretty.

Beautiful dogwood in any color. I think that pink dogwoods are grafted to white stock, so maybe the damage has brought the white nature through more strongly...that probably makes no sense at all, but what do I know? Congrats to Lorelei on the award and she brings happiness to all of us when we see her smiling face on your blog. It is hard to know your children are moving away...there is an emptiness that just can't be filled. May God go with them to their new homes and you will just have to visit a lot!

As you said Rose... a 'bittersweet time is ahead for you all... one thing is for sure it as always sounded to me that your families foundations are built on love... and I'm sure it will be carried with them all throughout their life... foundations built like that are known to be magnetic so the pull to keep returning will always be strong in their hearts....
Lorelei is sure worthy of many rewards..... and the coice you helped her with would be perfect... she sure loves animals.

The hint of pink is very pretty. I have a daffodil that starts yellow in the center and turns totally white. I had a hard time convincing my hubby it was the same one. He thought it was different blooms.

I haven't seen a dogwood that changed color as much as yours did. Amazing.
Congratulations on your award.
I hope all of the family moves work out well.
