Have you thought about the fact that Christmas is less than two months away?  I used to get an early start sometimes, then the longer I worked at the orchard, the less it happened.  Partly because I aged and was just too tired. Apple picking started at the end of August and ended the last of October, or first week of November, but there was still grading to be done. Part of it was that more trees matured and there was actually more work to do, so I had a reason to be tired.

I have been looking at things for the toot....got one thing picked out but cannot decide about what else.  I have no idea what I am getting for anyone else, either.

I did see something for my older daughter, but on closer inspection it was one of those special care deals....so I didn't get it.  Does anyone else get tired of those items of clothing that say hand wash and lay flat to dry...or even just the lay flat to dry part.  Who has room to lay everything out flat to dry anyway?

So, what is on your Christmas wish list?

  1. Christmas is so hard, I never know what they need and hate to waste money on things that will just add clutter.
Even grandson is hard to buy for, as cognitively disabled as he is it is hard to find something that will interest him.(I've written about him here http://zettsett.blogspot.com/search/label/Michael)

  2. I hate the lay flat tag, hand wash is almost as bad! And when you lay it flat, the bottom doesn't dry right, necessitating one of those mesh clothes hammocks...grrr. Then the bathtub is unusable for the whole day. When I was young, I had most of the gifts ready by Halloween!!! Now it's a last minute rush!!

  3. I think Christmas shopping gets harder every year. As my girls get older they seem to want and need less.
I need to start my shopping but am not in the mood yet!!!!
With all the rain we are having here clothes need to be washed and tumble dried so these special washing instructions are just a total pain aren't they.

  5. Believe it or not I have been thinking about it. I have half of the grandkids bought...Not sure what to get the other half.
    I want an Ott light.

  6. i think it is 52 or 53 days, pretty close to it and that makes it sound even sooner. i put my 2 little trees out the day after thanksgiving. we always pt our trees up
2 weeks before but now i like them up all month. my nook that they sit in needs cleaning and I am letting it wait so i don't have to clean it twice. i love putting out my glass Christmas things in the nook. that is all we do, we don't do gifts for each other, never have because we buy what we want when we want it. no shopping to do for me because there is no list.

  7. My husband likes to help with the shopping and he has found a few books he thinks my two sons-in-law will like. We usually ask my daughters to give us a list to choose from and they do the same.

  8. I think your priorities are right on by starting the Christmas search by looking for things for "toot."
    Nice post.

  9. I sort of want another treadmill, but I prefer running outside. So the jury's still out. I don't want much of anything else. I'm usually knee-deep into shopping, but this year I'm not in the mood and I don't know what to get anyone. Last year was a big Christmas for us and this year will be smaller. That's probably why. Also, four out of five adults on our shopping list truly need help with finances. I want to be useful to them without saying, "Hey, here's a grocery store gift card."

  10. I love buying for the grandkids, but haven't started. I do not like trying to buy for others however. I never know what to buy and that takes the fun out of it.
I'd much prefer to celebrate the day with dinner and visiting and not exchanging presents except for the little ones.

  12. Everyone has sooo much these days, especially the kids, that it's harder and harder to find anything, let alone think of anything! I don't even make a wish list. Hubby and I quit buying each other gifts years ago!

  13. I used to start early on Christmas buying when the kids were little. Now they have Amazon wish lists and I just go on-line and order something they want. I would rather pick out something I think they might like at times, but know their tastes are hard to judge. I love to make gifts, but my kids don't necessarily love to receive them :-) But I do make things for my sisters. I have little desire to shop any more. I hate malls. I am less excited about trimming the tree....which I always loved...now that there are no family around to enjoy it over the holidays. I really have few needs or wants any more. I'd rather have a 50 lb bag of sunflower seeds than anything else!
