From my yard--today...

This was taken this evening...in my front yard!!! Can you believe that--on the 1st of February? I knew it had been warm, and that the days are getting longer, and we have had sunshine for a couple days in a row...but I was still surprised to see this. It was the only one of its kind that I saw, and I did look for more. I did see an iris bud...but it is real close to the house. I hope no more pop up.

The kids came down and spent Friday night, then Saturday after they went home I started feeling like I was getting sick...and did. Sore throat, stuffy nose, all those lovely symptoms. Sunday was the only day where I didn't know if I was going to live or not...haha....you know how you feel that first day? Not really that bad, but still not fun.

Each day since, I get up feeling kind bad, but feel pretty good by evening. I actually got dressed and was out and about a little bit today. And even came home and sewed. The first time I have touched my machine in almost a week.

Anyway, that is why I haven't been blogging...still weary and starting 'the cough' now. Everyone we talk to has either had it or knows someone that has had it, so I know I am not the only one.

Not sure when I will be back to blogging regularly, but hopefully soon.

  1. Wait a minute, I went to your other blog first, LOVED the close-up...now I see it is a dandelion??? Wow, you snapped it to look like a beautiful cultivated flower on the other blog, fantastic, I didn't know what it was!

  2. I'm in the middle of that too--hope you feel better soon. I can't recall ever being so "knocked down" from a cold before...it's been almost a week and I'm just starting to feel okay. Take care and just take it easy...

  4. the one sentence here that makes me know how sick you are, is I haven't touched my sewing machine in a week. did someone call 911? yikes you are feeling bad. so glad the yellow flower popped up for you. hope you are much better today. Ginny said it looks like a dandelion, looks like a chrysanthemum to me. so is it wild or planted

  5. February 1 is entirely too early for dandelions as far as I'm concerned. It's been quite warm here in Tennessee as well, but they say cooler weather is on the way. I hope you are soon feeling better.

  6. Last Tues it started for me... I lost my voice & I never lose my voice when I get sick, so that was really weird! I rarely get sick, but this one kicked my butt & I even lost 2 days of work, but I can probably take 2 days of vacation time for that, so I won't lose pay, thank GOD! It's been a week & 2 days now & I thought I had my voice back when I got up this morning, but it's disappearing again... it's hard to answer the phone at work when you barely have a voice! =0

I know what you mean about 'the cough'... my ribs are sooo stinkin sore from coughing & I'm guzzling cough meds... a lil too much, too, cuz I'm all spacey! heheheee

It's been in the 60's all week here, but I haven't seen any flowers... BRING ON SPRING! =)

  7. Guess I should take a walk around the yard while it is still warm. I might be surprised at what I find!

Sorry to hear you're sick. We both have it, too. I was supposed to start my new job but now will have to wait until next week.

Take care, and hope you're feeling better SOON.

  12. I sure hope you start feeling better soon, Rose! It's so hard being sick. You don't feel like doing the smallest things. May your next morning make you feel as wonderful as that pretty yellow flower looks!

  14. I hope you start to feel better soon. We were just in Paris Illinois on Wednesday for a few hours visiting our niece and couldn't believe how warm it was there.

  15. A dandelion never looked so good to me! So sunny! My quince bush is trying to bloom and we are in for more cold. I just know it will kill the blooms for later when we should have them.
