From a few weeks ago

I am going to show you the deer we saw while at the Heron Viewing station last time we were there...the one north of Danville, Illinois.

She just did not seem to concerned with us.  We were not far from her at all.

She finally strolled away.  I did not notice the 'things' at the top of her shoulder till I downloaded the pics and enlarged them
You can see them better if you right-click on the image and chose to open in another tab or window.  I've not ever seen anything like it.  Roger says deer get injured and get sores, etc...but these are two strange places to my way of thinking.

****************
I went fishing again out at Universal...I caught 5 or 6 large-mouth bass but all were really on the small side.  But was still fun to catch.  I fished for a couple hours and ran through the strip pits.

It is just so strange out there.  I seen a Blue Heron and an Egret, and that is all I saw.  I may have seen two or three birds flying, but that is it...and I really don't remember seeing any.  It was as if I were on another planet.  I did not see meadowlarks, nor blackbirds, nor anything moving at all.  Not even a single deer.  Which almost any time we go through there we see something...a pheasant or a deer or a hawk.

I saw the one Northern Harrier a time or two about a month ago, and have not seen it since.  I have not see a short-eared owl yet...and haven't seen an eagle out there in ages and ages.  So I am beginning to wonder if it has all found some other place to go.

Not sure what's on that deer. I wonder if it is a swollen spot around a tick. Just guessing.... :(

Good deer pics Rose!
They have started showing up here on a daily basis. The acorns are dropping so the deer seem to follow a path each day from tree to tree.
I know deer can get warts although I've never seen it. Not sure if that is what this is.

so interesting Rose. I hope the wildlife return to your spot. It's scares me when I hear stories like this

Could be wounds healing from getting scratched on a fence.
Sounds like your local wildlife is on the move.

so awesome to see her. i did enlarge and they are growths, baby girl has growths all over her, they are caused by allergies, so this looks like something like what baby has.

I hope it just means the birds and other animals have moved along, but it always makes me think winter is coming faster than we realize.

Those are strange bumps on that deer. No doctors in nature.... I hope it will be okay.

I've never seen bumps like that on deer before. Cool photos.

Lovely shots of the deer - I love the ones of him peeking through the grass. I've no idea what that is on his shoulder though. Hope it isn't anything bad!

those sores do look sore if you know what I mean? I popped your blu-ray in the mail yesterday, hopefully you should get it sometime in October!!!!

The deer appears to be suffering from EHD -- brought on by the drought this year. We've had two die on our property this year. Very sad.

Nice pics, Rose. Poor ole deer. I hope these sores (?) are too serious. Deer are so threatened MB

Hmmm...wonder if those things are warts, or like someone mentioned, maybe a swollen spot due to a tick. Nice job on the photos!
