Fun times

We ran over to see our daughter and family yesterday and spent the night...this is Lorelei and her second cousin...as you can tell they are having a grand time. And do you see what they are playing on? Just a plain old cardboard box. And they have played and played on it. But the time it is thrown away, it will have provided hours and hours of entertainment.

When our girls were little, we would go to the appliance store downtown and get them a box every so often. They had more fun with them than about anything you could buy. I am not sure if all appliances have given up the cardboard boxes, but the last two or three appliances we have bought have come wrapped in plastic...
*****************
We got up to a definite chill in the air yesterday and today. Today has gotten a bit warmer than yesterday. I could at least be outside with just a long sleeved shirt...yesterday if I was going to be out for any length of time, I had to have on a jacket.

I definitely feel winter closing in....I do know fall hasn't even officially begun. Nevertheless, I feel winter nipping at my heels. I so wanted a long fall....still hoping to get one. But it won't surprise me if we don't.

Isn't it funny how much fun they can have with cardboard. Just love their smiles.

and that's why you don't have to spend a fortune on toys for kids!!!

Very sweet photo and I remember getting appliance boxes and playing with them when I was little.

Yes, those cardboard boxes are great fun. Our kids made all kinds of forts with them. :)

Yup, kids and kittens, they love a good box! Fall is fast approaching here as well.

It has turned a lot cooler here, too. I LOVE it that little kids still enjoy the simplest of toys. ;)

A fine, fun shot of these two enjoying playing together. It's great that Lorelei has a number of relative near her age.

Lorelei always has a lovely smile on her face. Isn't it funny that they get so much pleasure from a cardboard box.
I know what you mean about winter coming. It is decidedly wintry here too. Heavy rain, dull, cold - very yuk!!!

Cute! I remember one year having a new refrigerator box to play with. We took it out in the back yard and climbed in and out of it and made a "house" in it and just had so much fun. I'm so glad that I lived when you made fun for yourself and used your imagination. I think many of today's' kids are missing out on so much by always being "on-line" or on a phone.
