Since it is going to be a while

Since it is going to be a while before I can take good pics of the finished baby quilt, I will show it to you before the binding it on...and then when I get it washed, I will take more pics and show a pic then.

I never give a quilt away without washing it first.  I used to have a fear one would fall apart, then I realized that was crazy cause I use good construction methods when I sew.  But the other thing, I want to wash them first time and throw in a Shout Color Catcher in case anything bleeds.  Some quilters always wash their fabric first thing...before making anything.  But I prefer not to...I like working with new fabric.  I also like the way the shrinkage makes the quilt look after it is washed.
*************
It is raining off and on this morn...so far nothing really hard.  Last night it just poured for a while--it was actually wonderful to here.  I think we have made up for last summer and am just hoping we don't have another like it.

I just realized yesterday that I had not mentioned having breakfast on the front porch...we have actually eaten out there a time or two already.  It is just wonderful to be able to sit out there.  And we sat out there with Lorelei last weekend.  Of course she never just sits, but that is fine.  She never just sits...always doing something.

Well, we are headed to Paris in a few minutes....Paris, Illinois that is.  So going to post this and be done with it.

  1. The quilt looks fine in this interim form. Breakfast outside sounds very good.

  2. It's beautiful Rose, you are so talented. Lovely to be able to eat outside again. We're having a very hot week. Reached 90 deg F. recently. No interim warming up temperatures here, from cold to hot in a hurry, but I am not moaning :)

  9. Looks wonderful! Your quilting looks great, as always. I'm still at that "afraid it will fall apart" stage and don't wash mine, but I do like the idea of washing them with a color catcher. I've been meaning to try that with some quilts, but always shy away from washing them. Rain here...but so nice and spring like otherwise!

  12. Cute quilt! Lucky baby. I prewash my batiks, I've had them bleed horribly even with a color catcher.

  13. I love it Rose!
    Your stitching is lovely!

We broke a temp record here yesterday. It was 86 degrees. It was 84 in the house at bedtime and we turned on the air. Way too early for that! Storms and rain moving in tonight. Hope they won't be too bad.

  14. How nice to be able to sit out and eat breakfast on your porch. I am looking forward to coffee on my patio but it will probably be a week or two before it will be warm enough. Your quilt is lovely. The color choices are really nice. I am not a quilter and admire the talent of those who do.

  15. I love this quilt, Rose! I think quilts look so much nicer after they have been washed the first time too.

Breakfast on the front porch? Already!! Hmmm. I couldn't do that here without wearing mittens. :))
