School or church?

We came across this on our way home from Goose pond a couple weeks ago.  We both think it was a school, but that is just us.
I wish now I had gathered my courage in hand and walked up and looked in to see what I could see from up close.  I don't recall seeing a 'No Trespassing' sign.
So, which do you think it is?  And what is your reasoning.  We have no real reason that we can point to it being a school...it was just a feeling we had.  But it was out in the middle of no where.  There was a house just a ways on down the road...but that was about it.  No community of any sort.

Speaking of school, Lorelei is coming this weekend.  Sarah said she went to get her up this morn, and before she even opened her eyes, she said, "Mom, I love going to school!"  May it always be that way!

  1. Glad Lorelei loves her school. As you said, let's hope that it will always be that way!!!!

Not sure what that building was ---but if I had to choose, I'd probably say SCHOOL also... Churches just look different....

    Hugs,

  2. What an awesome find! That is an amazing looking building. I bet it was a school. Churches don't have ivy on them. That's my reasoning anyways. :)

  4. Maybe you can find some people in the area, out walking or something, and ask them. I would LOVE to know the history! I think it was a church because of the shape of some of the windows and the tower.

  5. So sad it was left to decay. It looks like it was a beautiful place at one time.
I'm going to be different and say church. The tower with the openings at the top just seems to lend itself to being a bell tower.
    A wonderful find!

Lily is asking her Mom every day how many days she has till school. They don't start till after Labor Day.

  9. This building is an amazing find to shoot. A school is an excellent guess. The growth over and around the building is stunning. Mother nature is so strong and pervasive.

  10. Since we have found some little churches out in the middle of NOTHING around here, I say church. The ones we have found are not deserted though. They are still thriving churches. But since they are not around any houses, I would guess church....since most schools are built in communities so the children there can attend.

  12. What a great find...I am thinking it is a church because of the shape of the windows and it look to me that it may have had a cross at the top peak of the tower roof. LOVE it...
