A little randomness for Friday....

I actually remembered it is time for Random 5 for Friday...so here goes.  I may be slow visiting because Lorelei will be coming tomorrow, but I will eventually get around to visiting.

1.  Pumpkins, squash, gourds, etc are some of my favorite subjects to photograph.

2.  Why is when I have stuff going on and no free time, I want to go down and sew and be creative, then when I have free time, I don't have the urge?

3.  I am not ready for cold weather, but think it is here anyway.  None of my kitties spends the night outside any more.  They go out, but always come back in to stay.

4.  I LOVE potato soup...probably as much as I love vegetable soup.  At least with the cooler weather, Roger is ready for it.  I like soup any time of year.

5.  I ALWAYS  have a book I am reading... always.  If I finished a book this morn, I would be started on another before night. And if I haven't started on a new one, something is wrong. Right now I am reading A Week In Winter by Maeve Binchy.  I am really enjoying it...I know I have read 3 or 4 others by her, but have no idea why I haven't read them all.

    Chili is my favorite soup.
We had a little light snow/sleet event here today with temps in the upper 20's for tonight. Not sure I'm ready.
$2.oo pumpkins - wow. They are about 3.99 here. I haven't bought any.

  6. I am soooooooooo with you on the soup thing. I too can eat it year 'round. And as for the weather, after such a long hot summer here, the cooler weather is MINE, all mine.

  7. I can certainly relate to #2 on your list!

  8. Your list gives me goosebumps. I could have written it myself. The only thing different for me is that I do not have a book going all of the time. I teach reading so get ample reading time in at work.

  15. Didja say SOUP??? I'm on my way. I used to bore friends if we were going out because I'd order soup and salad.
Sometimes, just the soup . . . yum.

    Happy Friday to YOU!!!!

  16. Soup is my favorite!

I totally agree with number 2 on your list, its the same way for me. When I get free time, I get absorbed into a book, and neglect the projects I want to get done. But reading is good too. :)

  19. Lovely photo of the pumpkins. And that is a great price!!! I can so relate to your Random 5. I usually am reading a couple of books at the same time.

  20. Lorelei should always be ahead of commenting on blogs! ;-) Nice pumpkin shot. They look like very good quality pumpkins. One local store has some miserable looking pumpkins for sale...why would anyone want one like that unless it was meant to be part of a scary display.

  21. I am your 100th follower... do I win the booby prize? LOL The pumpkins are nice! My favorite time of the year is autumn, and although nature is winding down and dying this time of the year, it is the season when I feel most vibrant and alive... xox

  23. Oh my goodness Rose, you've reminded me of the yummy potato and garlic soup my grandmother used to make. I have her precious Czech recipe book and have been translating some of her best recipes for my children. I'll have to go look that one up. Of course, the way grandma made it everyone had to have some or risk being evaporated by the garlic breath of everyone else...lol. I have two cats, both boys (go figure) who just don't give a toss about the weather, and one, a girl, who won't go outside if there is even a hint of a dew. I suppose she thinks her fur will frizz. :) My mom loves the Maeve Binchy books. I'm usually more a fantasy or biography kind of girl, but she raves about them so much that I think I might borrow a couple and give them a try. :) Hope you're having a lovely Friday and I'm glad you've remembered because it's nice for me to catch up with you again. :)

  24. I agree that pumpkins and gourds are fun to photograph. And I too always have a book I'm reading. Maeve Binchy was a PROLIFIC writer. At my local library's used-book sales there are always a bunch of her books, so lots of other people must agree with you. ;)

  25. Wow. Those pumpkins are a bargain at $2.00 each!!!
I also love photographing them ... they are so photogenic.
And yup! It is getting very very crisp here, too!
Had to turn the heat on!!!
    Have a great weekend!

  26. Nice pic of the pumpkins! They are a real bargain. I like potato soup quite a bit, too. We mostly have soup in the winter but I like it year round. We eat other hot things in the summer...why not soup?

  27. Pumpkins have be delightfully plentiful♫ And Potato soup is one of my favs, will have to make some this week-end! Thanks for dropping by♥

  28. Wow! $2 for that size pumpkin! I'd be buying lots! We love carving pumpkins. One year I painted some, they turned out really well. I'm also a reader - right now I'm hovering between reading the whole Harry Potter series (I'm slow ... when everyone else was into the books I had no interest - now I love them LOL) & Stephanie Plum. The only time I have to read is before bed though, & usually I'm so tired I never remember what I've read, so I have to reread. No wonder it takes me so long to read one book!

  29. I love to have soup any time of day as I am a lazy eater. Soup goes down faster :-)

As for the cold weather, I don't like it either, but it is here!

  30. Great photo of the pumpkins! Pumpkin soup is my favorite...I can't get enough of it in the fall.

  31. Hi Rose!

Hope you and Lorelei have a fun time together.

I think pumpkins and gourds are simply fun. I wish I had some to decorate and/or set out on my deck. The cheapest pumpkins I have seen are $5.00 a piece.

I LOVE to read too. Sometimes I have to wait over night before I can start a new book. I get caught up in the characters and am not ready to stop thinking about them. So, I catch up on magazine and newspaper reading.

  32. Yes, I always have a book going. Sometimes 2 or 3. I think I'm afraid I'll run out of one and not have another already going. My library fines are embarrassing, too :) Your pumpkins are a real bargain. They're much more expensive here. I plan to go to the local pumpkin patch tomorrow to take photos. I love pumpkins!

  33. Such a festive Autumn image Rose --
it's been chilly here too and I don't think we'll see any warm temps again until Spring!

I'm getting back into my reading mode again and loving it!

Thank you for joining in at R5F this week. xo

  34. Great Autumn post! I'm clinging to what is left of this beautiful season. Not ready for "s" yet. Aloha

  35. I really like the photo of the pumpkins. It looks so homey and "country". Very nice. Maeve Binchy weaves a grand tale. It's been awhile since I've read any of her work. I think it's time to change that.

  36. Homemade vegetable soup....with leftover roast! mmmmm....mmmm....mmmm! My mom always made it....and cornbread to go with it. Miss those days!
