Random 5 Friday

It is time to come up with my Random 5....and yes one of them has to do with the photo above.

1.  I think I take this same shot of milkweed pods every single year.  I just happened to notice that the other day.

2.  I really wish I was a neater person.  And I cannot seem to get started back at de-cluttering.  It would help so much to be free of the stuff I no longer use, or no longer need. I got rid of a lot of stuff from the kitchen, but find there is a bit more to do.  For instance, I have several odd-sized plastic containers.  We had them for when Roger was still working...for when he wanted to take lunch.  Now I don't need them, and find myself continually moving them from one spot to another.  So, out they are going.  I did actually throw away a couple yesterday, but I am going to get up there and go through it all.

3.  The days are definitely getting shorter.  I don't like to get up till it is daylight...so, though I still wake up early, when I see it is not daylight, I usually get up for a few minutes, then go back to bed.

4.  Does any body else dread shopping?  I need to go to Walmart, but I dread going.  Just a few things I actually need, but I like to make the trip count.  So may do that after while.

5.  I want to try to make some little art quilts...but it is so hard for me to just let go and do.  Or when I make a scrap quilt...it is just hard to pick up any two pieces and piece together.  I wonder if that means I am a controlling person?

  2. if i had that milkweed pod, you would be staring at photos of it several times a month. you know how i snap things in our yard. it is really wild and cool and i don't remember seeing it before.. i know i am a controller, control freak is what i am.
I go through periods of great guilt from dreading to go shopping, Walmart or any other store. and i tell myself how bad that is because i have money and a car and can go there and get what i need and there are so many who have no money no car and can't get the food they need. therefore the guilt, but i still dread shopping.

  3. LOL...anyone who can make crumb quilts like you do is not controlling. Art quilt suggestion: treat your crumbs like a mosaic and create a small design.

  4. I don't remember ever seeing that milkweed plant, it is very cool and will make butterfly eggs hatch. Will blooms come out of there, or are they only seed pods? I hate the short days, I want LIGHT!!!

  6. i dread shopping at walmart because of the people you have to interact with ... the one who stand in your way or won't move. i come to shop not socialize ... i would say move over & chat ... don't forget why you are there in the 1st place. then i usually have a cashier who questions me about everything i am buying. like does it really mean that everything i am buying are for me ... i might be buying gifts or whatever... NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS stop being so nosy. i understand being friendly, but? gosh, i have run on & on ... ( :

  7. Great pic of the milkweed pod. They are much prettier up close. I HATE shopping! But don't mind throwing things away. :)
I'm not a controlling person, but my horse and dog are! LOL! Hubby says they get that from their mom - I disagree! :)

  8. Ha! I took a photo of milkweed just yesterday and thought the same thing!

I too want to declutter more. I keep trying. :)) This morning I donated a couple of boxes of books to my local library's used book sale...but then I bought 5 used books. Hmmmm.

And I'm not a fan of shopping either.

  9. Rose -- you sound so much like my it's quite amazing... I think there's a little hoarder living inside of me -- I love a neat house, but find it's so difficult to let go of silly things we don't use. Quite exasperating!

I'm so glad you joined in this week and loved learning more about you.

  10. Very nice Milkweed Pod shot! I'm not a big shopper anymore in big department stores = too overwhelming. I prefer shopping online.

  11. The milkweed photo is wonderful. I also don't like to shop - but, when I finally make myself go, I get a lot done. I am getting rid of a lot of "stuff" - I feel lighter in my being.

  12. I was going through my photos last night looking for butterfly photos to make a photo book and I noticed how much I take the same kind of shots from season to season. I think I need to get out more. :)
I'm not either and I wish I could make myself get rid of more than I do. This winter I really need to downsize.
Yes, I hate shopping - especially groceries and my Wal-Mart is so big I have to walk from one end to the other to get the few things I do need.

  13. De-clutter and I do not get along....I don't know why. But everytime I attempt it.....we get into an argument. LOL
    That milkweed shot is amazing!!!
I'm not a morning person so the dark mornings don't bother me .... I'd like to be a morning person though.
    Have a crisp weekend!

  14. Cool shot! And I hate shopping! Any kind of shopping. 2 of my children do not carry that trait, however. They are shopaholic and her sister. There is something so peaceful and powerful about the wee hours of the morning. You will find the universe is speaking to you if you are lucky enough to be in the country away from the city sounds. Enjoy it if you get the chance. You will find yourself. Aloha

  15. I have always wondered what was inside the pod. I also do not like shopping anymore.....especially for basic things. Your post reminds me that I need to do some more de-cluttering also...I have just been lazy lately.

  18. Oh I am such a hoarder and so want to be a little neater, so I completely understand. I have a whole 2 shelves full of those plastic containers and most of them have missing lids. You are right, the days are getting much shorter. I was out this evening at 6:00 and the sun was almost setting...boo hoo. And I definitely do not like to do grocery shopping and Walmart is a definite no no!!
    THanks for stopping by!!

  20. Milkweed pods are so fun to photograph. My husband was intent on getting one open last weekend. It was not ready yet and he got the milky substance all over his fingers. I had to laugh. Decluttering is an on going job.

  21. I need to de-cluttering too, but there are so many things to do that it kept getting pushed aside and way back!

  22. I know about clutter and know that it is a good feeling to de-clutter but hard for me to get motivated. I like taking pictures of hollyhock seed pods. I think they look interesting too. I can relate.. Have a great day!

  23. that is a great shot-so interesting.

  24. I understand the urge to declutter. I hate being surrounded by disorder. Unfortunately, I have been the only one in the family that feels that way, so it's been a constant battle at our house to keep things sorted and neat. I'm not a good housekeeper in general, but I do hate clutter and disorder. I hate to shop, too. I put it off until I have to do it. Go for it with the art quilts! Just try something small and when it turns out alright you will want to try something more. I've been wanting to do some more with birds and animals or just nature scenes. Maybe we need to challenge each other to do something and set a time to do it to make us get started :-)
