It is Random 5 time...I do love this meme. I don't get everyone visited but I do make a good stab at it. The only thing is I cannot comment on some Google+ entries. I don't know why, but I have to set up an account if I want to comment on them, but I don't want an account.
Now for my Random 5.....
1. I am really, really ready to sit on in the swing and read...wish I had room to move it inside.
2. It is going to be a while before I can do that...we got more snow. At least 3 inches...and we are supposed to get more, though how much I don't know.
3. Does anyone besides me patch jeans? I do it with a sewing machine for the most part. I used to always do it by hand. I can remember my mom patching them and them looking so neat. I think that is why I patch them....just remember her sitting patiently stitching away.
4. Lorelei is supposed to come this weekend...she wants to come tomorrow but the roads are so slick we don't want to risk getting in a wreck.
Five fascinating facts! I used to patch my kid jeans and whatever else needed patching. And mine to and hubby's but not anymore.
ReplyDeleteI read your blogger friends stories about auto manuals--too true and too funny.
stay off the roads if it is slick out. No accidents please.
Take care, MB
I don't patch jeans but I've seen a blogger put pretty little trims and such on the bottom of her grand daughter's jeans ...because she is tall and that helps make the jeans last longer : )
ReplyDelete...I'll have to post a photo of a pair of my husband's work jeans which he patches with Tear Mender. More patches than original material and they are quite a sight! :)
ReplyDeleteMy hammock is my fav place but like you won't be using it for awhile yet. At least we don't have snow, right now! Carla
ReplyDeletewhen i was a kid we patched jeans al the time. usually my knees. i guess as an adult not so much. i was going to say that maybe they make them better, but then that is not true. have you seen the folks that buy pants with holes already in them??! are you kidding me??! that seem just plain silly. ha. ha!!
ReplyDeleteenjoy your swing. maybe find a smaller one for the inside? ( :
I have a sewing wizard lady in the next town over that does all my patching, sewing, etc. She's just so good at what she does, and doesn't charge all that much either. If I sew on a button, I'm doin' good. LOL
ReplyDeletei am glad you liked those post, i just went to them and looked at them again myself. i do the same thing, save a post if i want to go back to it. no to mending jeans, but i would if i could..i just can't sew at all. glad they are waiting for the weather to get better, it is to cold and icy to risk driving
ReplyDeleteI remember my mother patching jeans. When she still sewed, she could patch anything. I didn't inherit her sewing talent, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteI love that photo of the snow-covered trees! It's stunning. I wish we would get some snow here. So far, nothing substantial this winter.
I use the iron patches for my son's jeans. He hates to lose his favorite pairs, so I try to extend their life!
ReplyDeleteThat's how our trees look this morning. I patch work pants!
ReplyDeleteOoooooo ... sitting on the swing and reading sounds so wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteI would probably be knitting or crocheting though! LOL
I can't sew to save my soul!!!!
I can sew by hand but put a sewing machine in front of me and I go blank!
Have a great weekend!

A beautiful winter shot with the white trees. I got quite a kick out of reading the Kia how to post! :-)
ReplyDeleteGeez, that looks cold and such a lot of snow ! We still have no real winter in Belgium, it's rather warm and it rains. I am far too lazy to sew anything !
ReplyDeletei do exactly what michelle does, so easy!
ReplyDeleteI used to sew, but never could sew on denim. I broke too many needles doing that, so I patched the kids jeans with those iron-on things. Worked pretty good!
ReplyDeleteHope the weather and roads get better so Lorelei gets to spend the weekend. Have fun!
My kids were in the 'holes in the jeans' era so I never patched them. They would have just torn the patches right off if I had. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteYes, I patch jeans also, like many other things which I will fix, instead of buying new.
ReplyDeleteEarlier, in the GDR, we hadn't to buy any jeans with us, we get they as a gift from relatives in Western Germany - they were worth gold, and when worn, every last scrap of durable was used. I had dress and jacket even sewn from the scraps...
And I had swing here in the interior, 10-12 years ago, well that you remind me: I want to search and install again ..-
Have a great weekend with or without Lorelei, when the streets are so slick, better not to ride - well, that's wintertime.
No---since I don't sew much, I do not patch jeans.. BUT--the jeans I am wearing now seem to be made pretty good since I haven't need to patch anything.
ReplyDeleteI used to buy those iron on patches when my kids were little and wore out the knees on their jeans… Now--kids WANT jeans with holes in them.. Gads!!!
No snow here… We are just getting missed this winter. So far, we have had less snow this winter than I can EVER remember… BUT--winter is not over.
Be careful if you have to go out in this weather… Safety is much more important.
Have a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy
My swing is completely drifted over with snow - no sitting there until maybe June! I like your snowy tree shot. I never patch jeans - mine don't tear!
ReplyDeleteSitting in a swing reading would be lovely but not in the snow. I am sorry to hear you got more snow. I'm crossing my fingers that snow holds off here for as long as possible.
ReplyDeleteI don't patch my jeans because most of the time mine are ripped at the bottom hem because I can never find jeans that aren't ten miles to long so they drag a little when I walk.
I know how much you love to have Lorelei visit, but if the roads are slick it's too dangerous!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I just tore a pair of (relatively) new jeans and I want to patch them. So maybe I will! Love your snowy pic!
ReplyDeleteSitting on a swing with a good book sounds good to me right now....I have not worn jeans in years but my daughter embellishes and patches hers. Kind of neat looking. I am sure Lorelei is disappointed. :(
ReplyDeleteYour snow image is so lovely. Enjoyed your post! Now that I think about it, I have never patched jeans in my life!
ReplyDeleteWow. A walk down memory lane here. I used to patch jeans as a teen. Wish I could get ahold of my teen's jeans now to cover up some of those raggedy holes that are so "in" now. Lovely winter scene. I love it. Never miss an op to go out when the snow is newly fallen...like this morning. Have a great day! And kudos for being Random 5's first post this week. Aloha
ReplyDeletePatched jeans were the fad back in the 70's!
ReplyDeleteI remember my brother dated a girl who patched a pair of jeans for him and it was the best sewing/patching I had or have ever seen. Neat as a pin and done by hand. I wish he had kept those. They were those huge flared jeans as well.
Beautiful picture. I don't wear jeans-i don't find them comfortable at all. Hope you are enjoying some warm drinks in between the snow shoveling!
