Would you believe this is a potholder...saw some when fooling around on the internet so sat down and tried making my own pattern and this is what I came up with. I would not mind if it was a little bigger but it is still plenty big to use to get a hot pan out of the oven.
The one above and the one below are about the size of a sheet of paper...(Ignor the thread stuck the the front)
and the last one might be a bit wider than one...I started them to make a bigger crumb block, then decided to make potholders of them. Not real happy with the binding...I did not do a continuous binder where I mitered the corners and I hate the job I did the other way. The mitered corners are much easier in my book...I don't know what I was thinking.

It is still bitter cold...I just don't even want to get out and go anywhere in it. But sooner or later I am going to have to get out and go to Walmart and the grocery. Just not looking forward to it.
I do want to get back to sewing again, but another puzzle is calling my name. I keep trying to forget about it but not sure how strong my will is in that dept.
How creative. LOVE your little designs. SO pretty. I especially like the pot holder.. Adorable.
ReplyDeleteVery cold here also and we got about 2 inches or more of snow today... It's going down to almost zero tonight.... Gads!
Hugs,
Betsy
Very cute and colorful, and the owl is very cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of this deep freeze. It's such a challenge to bundle up to go anywhere and I just dread going outside to fill the feeders but would not be able to sleep if I did not take care of that responsibility. I do enjoy our birds!

Very creative!
ReplyDeleteBy adding a back, you could make the owl into a little purse for Lorelei.
The cold is supposed to end soon. I'm growing weary of it too and I love winter ... but not so much this year.
That owl one is the cutest. With 3 new inches of snow last night, I may have to try on for myself today. See if I can make it up in my old head. I am making old timey binding on my Valentine’s runner and I bet I am gonna be sorry. I just did not want to mess with that long folded piece of fabric. Hope I do not end up ripping. I think your pot holders look fine. Maybe that is what I am going to need to say about my runner and leave it alone. Happy Quilting. genie

ReplyDeleteOOPS, Rose...I forgot to tell you that I have added you to my sidebar list of guilting blogs I follow, and I added my name to your list of followers. Oh, Happy Snowy Day!
ReplyDeleteWell, look at you! Yes, you are quite creative. I LOVE the Owl potholder.
ReplyDeleteI love all of them, especially the owl! Did you put anything special in them to make them heat resistant? I think you could take orders for owls, looking at the comments :-) It really is cute.
ReplyDeleteThe pot holders are very attractive...and well designed.
ReplyDeletei love the owl. your puzzle treats you like my software treats me. even when i am not playing in it i am thinking i might.
ReplyDeletePuzzles--a love hate relationship. I just put one away.
ReplyDeleteI like your quilting projects. You did a good job. MB
Clever way to use small bits of fabric!
ReplyDeleteI think you could frame them....they look great together. My favorite is number three
ReplyDeleteReally fun pieces! Too cute.
ReplyDeleteCan I just tell you I would PAY for that owl potholder!!!? My grandmother Betty used to sew all the time and she'd come up with things like that. All of your potholders make me think of her. I have a red robe hanging in my laundry/utility room for show - just to make me smile. It is now far too threadbare to wear anymore. I miss all the things we took for granted - blankets, potholders, robes, play clothes, etc.
