I am finding snow pictures so appealing right now...this was taken in March of 2013. If you click on the photo, you can expand the view. This was on a Sunday so I suppose they were having their church that day. From all I have read, they have their church meetings every other Sunday, and they take turns having them in their home.

I did not get anything done today. That I planned to do. And very little otherwise. Tomorrow is a new day.
Such a lovely photo and yes, this appeals to me right now :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, what a sight!! I have seen them separately here, but never all in a row! We never pass when their church is in service.
ReplyDeleteSo many Amish buggies parked in one place! I have never seen this in person as here the Amish tend to have long driveways and are mostly live on back roads an hour or so west of where I live.
ReplyDeleteI like the buggy's, this is a really good photo.. glad you shared it.. but i don't want to ever see snow.. except of course in photos
ReplyDeleteThere is a community in Southern Illinois (Arthur) where these buggies are still in wide use. And I am in no way missing the snow from Illinois. The last winter we lived there, we scooped snow all winter long! Thanks for the picture.
ReplyDeleteNice photo . . .
ReplyDeleteOur weather has been very cool the past few days, a reminder of what is to come, for sure!
The dense collection of buggies makes an impressive shot. It does make the viewer wonder where the people are.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for tomorrows.
ReplyDeleteLove the shot. MB
It's a great shot!
ReplyDeleteNo worries....I got nothing done today....or yesterday....or the day before!!!
diane @ thoughts and shots
I almost hate to admit it, but around here, I'd rather take wintertime photos than summer. It seems so much more is visible when the leaves are off the trees.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful photo of the buggies. I have never seen this many together at one time and I definitely was not aware of their church meeting practices.
Yesterday, Mike took the afternoon off from work and we went up to La Porte to visit friends and go to the Allis-Chalmers (tractor) centennial celebration at the LaPorte fairgrounds. We didn't leave to come home until after 9:00 p.m., and saw no less than 5 deer (all individually at various points) grazing alongside Hwy. 39, and had a fox - yes a fox! - run out in front of our car on Hwy. 39 and his tail narrowly escaped our tires. THEN, as we were pulling into our subdivision, there was ANOTHER fox that ran across the street in front of us and into the cornfield, stopping to look at us before he went into the corn. Quite a day for wildlife encounters!

Hi Rose, Great photo.. Thinking of SNOW sounds great to me. We didn't get much last year (for the last several years actually). I'm always hoping for at least one good snow (about 5-6 inches)...
ReplyDeleteBUT--our weather this summer certainly hasn't been bad. We have only had our AC on for 2 days total all summer (and that was because of the humidity and not the heat). Everything in the house felt damp--so we turned the AC on in order to dry things out...
What winter presents ---well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Hugs,
Betsy
Very striking photo, Rose.
ReplyDeleteI think we are all ready for something besides summer's heat!
The color placement in your photo is perfect. The red placards make a great dotted line across the center of the picture.
