The sedges flaunt their harvest
In every meadow nook
And asters by the brook-side
Make astors in the brook
(these lines are from September by Helen Hunt Jackson.)
I am not positive I have these correctly identified. I was reading this poem and had to look sedges to see what they are. I clicked on images and scrolled down and the top one was included. I think it is so pretty.
These pictures are amazing; something I don't really see or notice anywhere. The first one is so pretty, and really looks like fall.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty photos, Rose. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and love the quote!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what the first photo is of but I sure do like it a LOT!
ReplyDeletethe first one would make a great Christmas tree ornament, pick it, dry it and even spray it... both are fantastic fotos
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots and poem too. I don't know about it being a sedge but it is beautiful. I remember a poem to describe different grasses and one part was "sedges have edges" meaning the shape of the stem---so who knows. Funny the things one remembers. Whatever the shot is beautiful. MB
ReplyDeleteI especially like the "burst" effect of the first blossom. The second has great color and detail.
ReplyDeleteHey here it is--“Sedges have edges; rushes are round; grasses are hollow right up from the ground”.
ReplyDeleteThat old thinking cap works once in awhile. Haha MB
These are both beauties - I like the quotes too.
ReplyDeleteInteresting photos, and the first one is really unusual...sedges, eh?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fall flower! Not sure about that first one being a hedge...but it's gorgeous, none-the-less!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love Autumn??? I love the wildflowers of both Spring and of Fall... The first one you pictured looks SO much like Fall... NEAT!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Betsy
