After a rainy and dreary day, this old photo caught my eye...we have not even had a hard winter and I am ready for summer.
Does anyone ever just relax on Sundays? I always feel like I need to accomplish a little something each day. I tried to just sit and work my puzzle and do nothing but kept feeling as if I should be up and doing something. So, ended up down in the basement and did a couple small loads of laundry.
While clothes were washing, I decided to try to find something to toss in the garbage or a donate bag. I found old VCR tapes where I had recorded quilt shows. I thought I had gotten rid of all of them, but got in a drawer and found some that I had had there handy to watch while I was down there. So into the garbage they went.
Even though I had disposed of a lot more than those, it still felt strange to throw them away. Sort of like getting rid of an old acquaintance. They had all been watched numerous times. I watched them when I recorded them, then later there were favorites that I watched several times more. Anyway, they are gone.
And I found 3 or 4 more boxes to collapse and throw in the garbage. Does anyone else save boxes because they think they might need them to mail something in? I don't save all boxes or anything...but I always save one here and there.
A little here. A little there. It is all better than nothing. One of these days, maybe I will feel like I am done decluttering...do I hear laugher out there? You know, it could happen.
Gorgeous, gorgeous picture!! Just what I need with a snow storm on the way. A little here and a little there, slow and steady wins the race, it all adds up. Gosh, I didn't mean for that to sound like a chain of cliches!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I am anxious for Spring to arrive. I can't sit still ever, so I also used Sunday afternoon for some catch up. And hubby and I did cut down some dried up flowers, getting ready for winter to be over.
ReplyDeleteI relax on every day, and that includes Sunday, i spent 55 years of my life working the job and doing all the housework to. since i retired i do what i want when i want and just let it go. but i don't save boxes or old tapes,if it doesn't have a use i get rid of it...
ReplyDeleteI'm not anxious for spring yet. I am still finding winter beautiful. There are so many photos I can take NOW that I won't be able to take when there's foliage or when the winter birds have returned to the Arctic. Plus I do love taking photos of snow and ice.
ReplyDeleteI need to put a few things together to give away!
This year will be my year of decluttering. There is so much to do. I try to relax on Sunday but always end up doing something. Your sunflower picture is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYou know I have a problem getting rid of my son's old things...toys, clothes, jewelry that they never wore....books, notebooks, binders....you name it..I've probably got it. Like it's going to bring back the little boys that I used to have. I don't know why, but I never had a problem throwing away my daughter's old things...I've got a couple of her baby dolls from her infancy, but all those Barbies and clothes and Dreamhouse and car....they went out probably before their time. I guess I was younger then and didn't have the attachment to things to try to keep time from slipping away....well, this has been a good psychiatric session....what do you charge an hour? Bill me, please.
ReplyDeleteWhy do we women feel guilty if we relax :)
ReplyDeleteMost of us are this way...me too :(
Your Sunflower is so cheery! I've got a lot of "stuff" I should go through too, and thin out...maybe someday.
ReplyDeleteOh, that sunflower is a nice bright spot in the day! This has been such a drab winter this year. I'm not anxious to shovel snow, but everything just seems so dark and dreary.
ReplyDeleteI try to pitch where I can and donate when possible. I've been saving boxes but that's because we hope to move back west next year. That's our plan. The Lord may have other ideas. :)
