I was looking for a photo to include in this post and came across this one from September of 2008. I did not remember this bright red place....and cannot believe that I forgot it. Do you see that smiley face?

I did start on Lorelei's dress today. Believe it or not, I marked every seamline....I have not marked a seamline in years. In fact, I think the only time I ever marked the seamlines was when I had to make dresses in Home Ec and only then because the teacher made me/all students.
I am trying to not rush and enjoy the process. But it is hard not to just whip through it as fast as I can.

The other night I was sitting here...I don't recall what we had been talking about or what was on TV and partial line from a song crossed my mind...'a hundred years too late....' I was pretty sure of the number 100 but not positive...but the 'years too late' part I was positive of. I kept asking Roger, do you remember a song talking about being born a hundred years too late...he didn't. I tried to relax and just could not think of it.
I thought and thought the next day and almost thought of it several times...I told Roger it was not some off the wall song only I would like...I was sure he liked it, too. I finally thought to go to one of a song lyrics site and had to go through several pages to get to it...I was wrong about it being 100 yrs....it was 200 yrs. Does any of you know what song I am talking about without looking it up?
There you have it...A Pirate Looks at Forty by Jimmy Buffett...
Love this cute place! The smiley face made me smile. I hope you'll show the dress when it is finished. Was just thinking today about Easter dresses for the girls. Not fancy ones just spring ones.
ReplyDeleteI hate it when you can't remember something. I find having a shower is a good place to remember.......
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat barn- love the smiley face! I haven't heard that song, but I do this all the time..remember bits and pieces of a song or a movie. I am the google queen..and usually find the answer pretty quick. With my bad memory, it sure helps. Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteI noticed the smily face right away! :) I don't remember that song. Hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a RED barn/house. Looks like a happy place to be.
ReplyDeleteWhen my girls were younger I used to sew dresses for them----I didn't do zippers in dresses though. Only slacks or jeans.
Bob and i always get a tune in our collective heads and Bob is really good at remembering the words and I get to try to remember the artist.
I always liked listening to Jimm b.

glad to hear you are taking time with the dress. i wish mother had, she never marked the seams and my seams were always a tad crooked and my dresses screamed home made making me miserable at school. i have not heard this song before. I hate it when i try to think of something i know and it will not come .. good idea on the lyrics site.
ReplyDeleteThat barn is awesome and beautiful! I want to live there! Maybe people live there and not animals. Love the smiley face and stonework in the front! This is a song I do not know, but I am glad you finally found it!
ReplyDeleteLove that barn! Glad you posted it. I don't remember this song, but I like it too. I hate when I get a bug like that in my brain. Glad you could scratch that itch.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember the song, sorry. But I enjoyed it....and the beautiful red barn with the smiley face.
ReplyDeletei hope i have never asked this of you before ... but did Lorelei get her name thanks to the Gilmore Girls? if i have asked this question before i need a nap. my memory is not working for me today. i have a terrible sinus headache. but i am trying to get a bunch done around here. so i am trying to ignore it. have a lovely day.
ReplyDeletei love the red barn. so cute. & the smiley face tooo!! ( :
That is bright red. Love the rock foundation. I wonder if that's the original foundation? So cool.

Has been a long time since I listened to any Jimmy Buffet music, and we have several of his CDs stuck away in the closet.
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a cute barn. I love the stone walls on it.
I don't remember marking seam lines in home ec, though we probably did it. Has been far too long since I've done any sewing. I never had enough patience. I should give it a try again one of these days with something simple. My mother had a lot of sewing talent. Too bad I didn't inherit that gene! :-)
