Gone to seed....

I took this a couple weeks ago, and just have not posted it...thought that it fits how I feel tonight.  There is not much life left in these old bones!

We made a Walmart run in the morning hours...just for basic stuff.  Catfood, kitty litter, paper products, cleaning supplies.  It was not time consuming to put things away...not like when you go food shopping.

After a sandwich, I got into some de-cluttering and also rearranging some clutter!  I know, that is not supposed to be what I am doing.  But these were a couple or three totes of old pictures.  Family pictures.  I did not let myself look at them, or I would have not got anything else done.

I did find a paper that was from when Roger bought his first brand new truck.  A Ford F150 in 4-wheel drive.  This was back in 1976...he bought it right before we got married.  Very few people had 4-wheel drive back then.

I did get rid of one box of stuff...all but a couple items went either in the garbage or in the shredder...which ended in the garbage.  Everytime I think I have gotten rid of all old paperwork that has names and/or social security numbers on them...I find more.  I either shred and/or burn anything like that.  Sometimes I take it out and burn it.  Even if it is from family that has passed away.

Tell me, what do you do with those papers?  Am I being too careful? I just feel like we have to be super careful these days.

Anyway, I did get rid of quite a bit...two old pieces of luggage...a couple pair of shoes that were basically like new.  They were still in their box. I think I wore them one time each for special occasions, so I just put them in the donate bag.  I cannot think what else passed through my hands.  I am too tired to think.

Anyway, I had a place bookmarked of things that you could/should get rid of..but I think I deleted it.  I used to go to it to get ideas of things to discard...so now, I am asking you what is the things you discard when you start getting rid of things?

  1. Probably papers and old clothes go first. It's a lot of work and I need to go through the whole house...it sure does feel good in the end though, huh? :)

  3. I never enjoy doing de-cluttering and clearing old stuffs. Making decisions on what to throw and not to throw is another tough job. For papers with names with account numbers or with personal details, I will shred them before putting them into bags to be recycled.

  4. I would love to do this, but most of the stuff is Hubby's. He likes to hang on to things. I am a minimalist at heart so never really have much to throw out. Several years ago I made scrapbooks from all my kids school things I had saved, so now that clutter is at their homes. lol My main problem is books. I can't seem to get rid of them. Good luck with your sorting.

  5. You got a lot done. decluttering is really tiring and hard to do. for myself i get rid of anything that doesn't have a use or a place to live. i have about 100 CDs taking up space, they have photos on them from the past before i got flash drives and external back ups. i want to get rid but don't. i need to declutter in this room but keep putting it off. I have 6 shoeboxes full of old check books and old registers, all more than 10 years old... i asked my bank if they would take them and shred and she said anything that is banking related they will take them, that was 2 months ago and the shoeboxes still sit here. the accounts are no longer valid, but the addresses phone is

  6. Hard to do that much work in the summer. I usually get active again in the fall. No wonder you are tired.

  7. I donate my unwanted items to The Canadian Diabetes Society. They actually come by to pick things up at the curb if you call them.

  9. I try to shred everything with any information on it....sometimes even junk mail with names and addresses, etc. I am sort of paranoid. I hate worrying about this stuff but there are a lot of evil people out there any more! I would really hate to have my ID stolen.

Do you protect your credit cards in your purse? Now people walk around with scanners that allow them to steal your info right through your wallet or purse....it's so crazy out there any more! What a scary world we live in.

You are lucky if you can burn stuff. I get behind on the shredding. Once in a while they have a recycling day you can bring up to 100 lbs to be shredded free. I try to take advantage of that when I remember.
