Waiting in the background...

I have so much clutter in the back of my mind, no wonder I can't think straight.  I have a dozen of these blocks done...they have been done for years.  I love them...
I have even posted them before.  I was considering how I wanted to piece them together and considering machine quilting the top.  But a lady made a comment about it being a shame do do all that hand stitching and then do machine quilting.  (They are all done by hand...every single stitch.)  But I do think that people who haven't done machine quilting don't give it the credit that it is due.
So, they sit in the basement, along with other things.

There is this quilt top:

Along with that I have enough blocks for two different quilt tops.  Not to mention the tops packed away in the quilt chest that I made before I got my Juki 98Q.

But I don't want to touch any of them right now...just need to get myself focused on daughter's quilt top.  The fabric came Saturday that I needed to finish the top with.  I just need to get down there and start on it.

Instead, I sit here and type...been emailing some friends I have not heard from in a while.  Plus some I hear from regular...but in them all, I type and then reconsider what I have said and delete part of it...as I should probably delete this.  I feel like I need to cut down on words and do more action.

I am like you with various quilts in various stages of completion. I really just need to sit down and get on with them all!

Getting started is the hardest part. Those quilt squares are beautiful. It must have taken some time to do all that hand stitching. I love the bottom quilt too.

The applique blocks are beautiful. I think you should do whatever is needed to finish it. The very first quilt I ever started had hand pieced blocks...it sat for over 15 years before I decided it was more important to finish it and enjoy it than to have it 100% hand pieced and quilted. So glad I did.

I agree with you that machine quilting can be very lovely and if it will help you finish the quilt sooner than that's exactly what you should do to help you clear the clutter in your mind.

You will feel much better once you finish your daughter's quilt too, I'm sure.

I know what you mean about having so much clutter in your head that it practically paralyzes you. I've had a week like that! I've had to break projects down into little "bites" so I can have the feeling of having finished something and can then move on to the next "bite."

The quilted squares are truly beautiful, even more so knowing they are hand done. Wow! I look forward to seeing it fully finished... sometime in the future.

You have got more to do than you can finish in a lifetime. Thought there is hope. Mattie is 52 and I started a quilt for her when she was in college at the Univ. of VA. She was in a sorority whose colors were pure and white....so I decided to make her a quilt. Got all the squares done and did not finish it until last year for her birthday. There were stains on the fabric....it was a real pain in the neck. So there is hope for you. Just hang in there and finish Rachel’s and then start one at a time. I forgot to tell you this one is gorgeous and the completed top is just so cute. I love it.
