Random bits....

Friday is near and time for some randomness...
1.  The other day, I posted some pics of 'art' that I used to do  in high school...I thought it was all I had that I had done.  But then found this.  I do have a couple other sketches that one BFF did...I have kept them all these years.  Does anyone else keep things like this?   I wish I had kept more.

2.  I miss Jay Leno and Terry Bradshaw.  I searched on Youtube trying to find a good example, but cannot find one that I like.  So instead I am showing you this one.

3.  One day back when I was sick, I had one blog open all day long...I am not going to say whose blog it was, though she knows and can tell if she wants in the comments.  But I will say that I put 'Bob' in the search box.   I  read bits and pieces off and on all day.  Every time I got on, I read a two or three posts.  Or more. The reason is there are some really funny moments...they remind me so much of Roger and me.

4.  A few days ago, a blog buddy sent me pics of her mess.  I didn't ever think I would do this, but I sent her a picture of mine--my dining room.  And it was a mess cause I had been sewing.  She wrote back and told me mine was “organized distribution of odds and ends.”  I got so tickled with that comment.  I don't know if she got the quote from somewhere or if she made it up...I assumed she made it up...but it so fit and so made me laugh, and I smile any time I think of it.  Again, not saying who, but if she reads this, she can lay claim to it if she wants.

5.  I am reading Plain Secrets:  An Outsider Among the Amish.  It promises to be good. The author, Joe Mackall, has lived surrounded by the Amish for 16 years.

Linking to Willy Nilly Friday 5...

  1. This is a fun read Rose and thank you for the video link. I enjoyed that night show. Going back a ways I used to love listening to Johnny Carson.

  2. “organized distribution of odds and ends” - well said!
The book isn't in German, I would read it too :-(
Wish, I had saved old drawnings...
    Have a nice weekend

  3. No, I never saved my stuff. Maybe there wasn't any. But I saved a lot of my daughter's and my grandson's. This recalls to mind a discussion I had with my SIL who saved TONS of stuff her kids did. When they moved out she asked them to take them. They both told her they didn't want or need any of it. She cried.

Sometimes a cyber friend can say a word that unwittingly breaks your heart. But then a friend calls your work place an "organized distribution of odds and ends" and you know they "get" you and your heart soars. Lucky you.

    Have a great weekend.
    xx, Carol

  4. Looking back, I regretted not saving up my stuffs. The reason is I do not have much space to store them and I have been shifting places and things just got throw away or given away.

  6. I enjoyed this post. I actually have nothing from my childhood. After 25 years of marriage, my mom and dad divorced. Oh my, I best not get started on this...everything was lost...given away by my dad.

  7. I have read a fair amount of books about the Amish. I will have to look to see if I have read any by that author.

  8. I just looked. No, I haven't read that book. I have read about Amish in Ohio, though.

  9. That book is probably interesting because of it's insider look at a mysterious group. Looks like you are having fun with reading the blogs and exchanging information. Have a good weekend.

  10. I do keep my children's artwork & cards. My dining room sounds like yours & that quote from your friend fits perfectly!
I love anything about the Amish so I will try to find a copy of that book.
    Have a great weekend!

  13. All really creative people --like you---always have a 'mess' around them.. That is because you are working on all kinds of interesting STUFF. I lived with a quilter and creative gal for awhile --and she had so many projects going that I couldn't keep up with them all. BUT--I will say that for non-creative person like me, her 'mess' about drove me crazy!!!!! ha ha

Keep on making quilts and being creative. That's who you ARE.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  17. I have old writings from high school and a few drawings from elementary school. I look at them sometimes and wonder what I was thinking at that moment, 40 years ago, when I drew it. Also I think, "What the heck IS that?" I really couldn't draw very well. Jay Leno cracks me up too.

  19. I have a box of stuff like old papers I wrote in High School, College, A Scrap book of different stuff. It's always fun to get it out and look at it from time to time.
I should send you a photo of my messy craft/computer room. It's organized "clutter" for sure.

  20. What a great drawing. It looks sort of mathematical. Your friend has a great turn of phrase. It's hard to keep everything ship-shape when you're working. I think folk with over-tidy work stations can't be working too hard ...
