When we went down to goose pond, we saw this hawk....I could not get a good capture of it. However, I am showing you one I have played with in Picasa...
Does anyone know what kind this one is? I think it is the strangest marked hawk I have ever seen. I tried to capture it when it looked away but didn't manage that. The back of its head was white/dirty white. A spot about an inch in diameter I am guessing.

I made another block yesterday....
I knew I would not be real happy with that center block but used it anyway. But then I really did not like it. I let it lay for a couple of hours but could stand it no long and ripped it out.
I replaced it with this...I do like it better. It won't be my favorite block...I do know that much.
The one with the red center is so much prettier! It did really need this bit of color. This is an unusual hawk!! Wish I knew what it is.
ReplyDeleteThe hawk is very unique. I do love the 2nd block. Very pretty fabrics.
ReplyDeleteRose, you are amazing. I like the new center block best too. Isn't it funny how you know the whole time you're sewing something, you're not going to be happy with it, but finish it anyway, then change it. I do the same thing. The hawks here have more red in their feathers. That one does look different.
ReplyDeleteI did see your comment about your mom making biscuits and you described it perfectly. I could just picture them.
I've just caught up with your posts. Those wild flowers are absolutely beautiful. Also, was glad to hear how much Roger is improving. It must take a lot of work, and he does sound determined to get well. I'm so happy he is doing good.
I like the block with the red centre too. Very interesting hawk! Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteYes, the block with the red centre looks better. I don't get to see hawk in my area.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this hawk knows he is sitting between power lines. I don't know my bird names so am no help there. your blocks are like my photos.. I do the same thing, work on one and then delete and start over but ripping out the middle is much harder
ReplyDelete...I like the red center.
ReplyDeleteLove the block --but you are correct. The red center is much better I think. It brings out the red in the green fabric.... Lovely.
ReplyDeleteHave no idea about the hawk...He's a pretty one.
Hugs,
Betsy
I have a book of hawks found in Indiana and none have the face of yours in the eye area. Perhaps he was passing through. He sure is different and cool. Like the red center better too.

I do like the block with the red center.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but I can't help with the hawk ID.With all that barring on the chest,I'm wondering if it is an immature of some sort.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy admiring birds but don't know a log of names. :-) I do like the block with the red center, and my ripper is my most used tool. :-)
ReplyDeleteI like your blocks and your Hawk too. Maybe the Hawk is just at an odd time changing patterns. Maybe???
