Butterflies and Lorelei at the creek
The above is what the creek has been looking like...no sandbar, turbulent waters...
Lorelei loves to go wade in the creek and look for crawdads and baby turtles and whatever else she can find. Imagine our surprise to find it at this calm, low level yesterday.
Believe it or not, right behind her is a hole of water that would at least be up to her neck...the build up of sand where she is standing is new...it is in the middle of the channel and she has to wade water up to her knees at least to get back to the main gravel bar.
She and Papaw went for a bit of a walk...it was almost too much for Roger...but he made it back safely to the bank but he was sure tired. It is hard for Lorelei to comprehend how much her Papaw has changed. And even though I am with him every day, it sometimes catches me off guard, too.
Lorelei had some butterfly attraction going on!
The way she was giggling I think they tickled her when they crawled around on her.
Notice in the above picture there is also a butterfly on the finger of her other hand that is at the upper edge of the photo.
I hope you enjoy seeing what we were doing yesterday....it was a fun time...
I will be linking to Wednesday Around the World....

WOW! It is so special to have a butterfly land on the hand and then to have severalties special indeed. It's great to see Roger getting to take part in these memory making times.
ReplyDeleteThe shifting sand---i hope they don't shift while standing on the sand bar. Love a creek to play in that is why I like river fishing best. I just like to walk the river. LOL
ReplyDeleteIt is hard when some changes and it does take one by surprise when things seem to be just going along. I am sure L will figure it out.

there is something magical about a butterfly lighting on our skin, it is so light It can hardly be felt and I can tell she is loving this. she looks so cute in her pretty striped suit and I would love to wade in that creek with her
ReplyDeleteWhat a joy to see Lorelei with her Pawpaw. Building blocks to very special memories. Always fun to be amongst the butterflies.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you still take Lorelei to the creek. That is a mighty big creek. I love the picture of Lorelei and her Granddad in front of the dam...so touching. Seems like the butterflies just flock to her, she must have had an an awesome time.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you all got to spend that time together. I love waterfalls and butterflies. I bet Lorelei was having a great time with you and granddad.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see her enjoying this! My kids used to do the same, when they were younger. Great memories for me!
ReplyDeleteI am thankful that you all could get out and enjoy the water finally. I can almost hear Lorelei giggling at the butterfly. What great photos you have shared from your outing.
ReplyDeleteHow cool to have those butterflies land on Lorelei's hand.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun outing. : )
...fun!
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy it. That is such a pretty place. Lorelei will always have good memories of going places with you and her pawpa. She is growing up fast. She is so cute and sweet.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Rose, I enjoyed your photos and your sharing on what you, Roger and Lorelei did at the creek. Really amazing how the butterflies landed on Lorelei's hands. They seem to like her a lot. Beautiful time spent at the creek.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a wonderfully peaceful day. I have the same issues with my daughter in realizing that her dad can't do what he used to be able to do and she is 43 years old!! She is single and seems to depend on him when he is not able to help. I just love every pic you post of Lorelie. She is always smiling so beautifully!

ReplyDeleteI'm going to try to remember to spell her name correctly!!
Now that is the way to do summer, lots of happy fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for these wonderful pictures. I love the name Lorelei! Do you know the old German legend about Lorelei?
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice area, girl and butterflies.
It looks like a dream of a summer day. You are lucky to have this special little girl in your life. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a magical day. Lorelei looks so healthy and out-doorsy. Your creek sounds like a great place for a little girl to explore. I know my 11 year-old would adore searching around for the wildlife. Finding a baby turtle would be off-the-scale marvellous for him. I don't know what a crawdad is, but I'm sure he'd be delighted to find one of those too.
ReplyDeletea beautiful place but best to be careful it seems. Love the butterflies.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fantastic summer day! Those little butterflies are so pretty and I'm sure the kids loved them landing on their hands.
