A bit of this and that...and GOOD.
More salsa from another year...I sure would enjoy some of it right now!
**********
You know sometimes life is a bit challenging. Sometimes I am a big wuss...no courage or backbone at all. To say it has been a bit challenging for us is putting it lightly.
Roger was always able to make about anything or fix anything. And though I was not Mrs. Fix-it, I could work and accomplish things.
Last year because of my accident, we paid to have the yard mowed. In the previous years Roger had used the riding mower and I did certain parts of the yard with push mower.
It is not a big yard, so thought it would be good for me to mow it this year. Or at least try to mow it. I thought it would help get me back to walking normal because I would be concentrating on mowing rather than worrying about hurting my foot. Well, we went out there the other day and the mower would not start. It had always been easy to start.
Our neighbor saw us and came over and tried to pull start it and couldn't. Today I looked at Amazon trying to decide on a new mower. Even though I thought it was something simple with the old, it is just beyond Roger. That is why I was thinking about a new one. I set and looked at Amazon while we ate breakfast this morn, came home with the intentions of ordering a certain one.
But it has a bag, and it is self propelled....I have not used a self propelled in years and years and years, but I didn't enjoy it when younger and was afraid I wouldn't now. And it had the bag, and we had one one time with a bag and didn't like. So, got to looking more. I spent a good two hours looking, reading reviews, etc and still could not make up my mind. Just so indecisive I drive my crazy. But it actually might have been a good thing this time.
This evening, I had given Roger his meds and we had set down for the night. I thought I heard someone at the back door...went in there and it was our neighbor...he came to get the mower and is going to see if he can fix it. And he is good at stuff like that so it will probably be fixed fairly soon.

Roger has his allergy shots tomorrow...Friday is a doctor's visit. He has to go to get prescriptions renewed. But also has nodules on his thyroid and we have to see our family doctor to see about getting them checked. He had a CT scan a while back to check that the spot on his lung had not changed and they seen those nodules.
Plus they seen 'something' on his kidney...the previous year's scan did not go far down enough to see it. So we don't know how long it has been there. It may just be a cyst. And the girl said that 99% of the time the nodules on the thyroid are nothing to worry about.
Monday I take him to have a CT scan without and with dye to check the kidney thing.

Please let us know all the test results when you get them. What a wonderful neighbor you have! Phil & I both have cysts on our kidneys, nothing to worry about.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I will be praying for good test results!!
ReplyDeleteI hope your neighbor can fix the mower for you. You and your husband have had a rough year.
ReplyDeleteI hear your frustration about mowers. Hope your neighbor gets it fixed for you. I hope all the testing goes well with good results...it is always a worry :(
ReplyDeleteOh my! You certainly have more than your share of difficulties. When it's health related it seems even so much worse, at least it does to me. Hope you can have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteHopefully your lawn mower is easily fixed by your kind neighbour.
ReplyDeleteIt must be hard for you, having to make most of the decisions and coping with things that your husband used to take care of.
I hope all the tests come out with good results. You have some driving around ( and waiting in doctor's offices) so you'll be busy.
I do hope that your neighbour can fix it for you.
ReplyDeleteSaying a prayer and hoping all the tests and results go well.
All the best Jan
Will pray that all goes well with Roger's appointment.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is nice to have good neighbors. Hope he is able to get the mower fixed.
I'll still be mowing the lawn at the old house until it is sold.
No lawn to mow at the new house, we live in the woods!!
Saying a prayer for good results in Roger's appointment. Big hug for both of you. You've had to deal with a lot this past year and I am sending good thoughts your way. How nice of your neighbor. Good and caring neighbors are absolute jewels.
ReplyDeleteRemembering you both during these appts and tests for Roger.
ReplyDeleteHow thoughtful of the neighbor to see about your mower.
I hope you both can rest well tonight.
It just wasn't meant for you to order that new mower. I sure hope your neighbor can fix the old one. I'm the same way about making a decision. It drives me crazy. Hope Roger's appointments all go well. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHopefully your kind and thoughtful neighbour will be able to fix your mower for you. Pray and hope everything goes well with Roger's appointment and CT scan. Take care and Happy Weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe all face those kind of challenges in life. Some easy to fix, some...not so much. I've watched our neighbor with a self propelled mower, and I KNOW I wouldn't want one. Hope all the test results are good ones!!! And be careful mowing once the mower is fixed. Take breaks if needed.
ReplyDeleteStop and take a breathe. Don't worry about those spots and nodules. I always wonder how much of that is on everyone but are never seen until a doc is looking for something else. Terry's RA causes nodules in his lungs. But of course we always worry about cancer because his dad and sis had it.
ReplyDeleteWhen I didn't work, I mowed the grass all the time. It was good exercise. Now if I had to do it I would, but I WANT that self propelled mower. I personally like a mower with a bag to keep the grass from coming inside and I also think the yard looks better. Your neighbor will probably get your mower fixed. It probably just needs a new spark plug. It seems like Terry changes ours every spring.
Keep your chin up and have a nice holiday weekend.
xx, Carol
Hi Rose, thanks for visiting and for sharing the story about your brother. It's always good to hear of a cancer that has been beaten. I'm adding the two of you to my prayers, God bless you and happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great neighbor! This is how things are supposed to be! Those small engines can be a boogabear. Dan is pretty handy with engines, but it's the small ones like the lawnmowers that drive him crazy.
ReplyDeleteI pray the scan will turn up nothing and give you peace of mind. It's no fun getting old.
Your canning stuffs look good. We made soup. sauce and stewed tomatoes but not salsa. Maybe this year we will. Unlike you, I have no motivation this year but I did plant a packet of seed---30 seeds---and only 7 germinated--yikes!---so I figure enough to just eat right off the plant all warm from the sun. I wish it would warm up out here.
ReplyDeleteLife messes with us doesn't it. I cannot do lots of things I thought nothing of. I makes me so mad because I know I could lift that or push this or cut something. I am now a weakling----I don't like it much. But I want to stay around for a while longer so I accept---begrudgingly---LOL
Happy Easter to you and your family
