Well, Lorelei spent Friday night with us, and was going to spend Saturday night but ended up with her asthma bothering her so she ended up going home. I tell you, it is the most lonesome feeling in the world when she goes home....and was doubly so this time cause both daughters and son-in-law had been here. It seems like we are seldom all together any more except at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Yesterday afternoon, we went to a nearby town to eat....
this isthe sky as we returned home. I just LOVE days like this! Nothing like a blue, blue sky with white puffy clouds.
***********
Today we went to Rockville...I went up there on the highway but returned via backroads. We used to travel these backroads fairly often, but not so much any more.
We turned on this one road, that is actually the last road before we have to get on the highway again and there were these two. They were not very scared. There is a house just out of view. I told Roger, I bet they are being fed. They are too used to people....They did hardly moved till we got right across from them and even then they just ambled off into the woods. We pulled forward and what did we see?
This! That is the carport they are eating on.
The second one was looking off towards the other two we had just passed. Sorry about the quality...still you can see the second deer.
**********
I have not accomplished a lot today, but did clean out one cabinet....it had not been that long since I was in it so it was not bad. But I did make the decision to put a pan and waffle iron in the donate bag. I had not used the pan in a year or so, and it had been years since that waffle iron was used. Maybe someone else will get some use out of it.
I also got in my fabric and 'think' I have figured out what I want to work on. At least part of the time. It is handwork. It has been a long time since I did any, but I used to love to sit and work on something at night while I listened and half watched something on TV.
It has not seemed like a holiday today for us since we saw the kids Friday and Saturday....but that is okay.
I hope you have had a good weekend...and that the coming week is good to you.
You hit the jackpot with these beautiful deer. And you were right, they WERE being fed! Can't wait to see what your new project will be!
ReplyDeleteWe have so many deer here that I wouldn't dare put out feed for them. Millie has been such a good girl to keep them chased away, but this summer she has become quite lazy and allows them to venture oh-so-close to the house and gardens.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that you mentioned cleaning out one cupboard. I have been on a cleaning kick where each day I clean out at least one (sometimes more) drawer, cabinet, box, file, rod, etc. By week's end, it makes a difference. I am tossing lots of old stuff that we don't use anymore. Today, it was Dan's shaving stuff - not my favorite cabinet.
Looking forward to seeing your new 'handwork' project.

ReplyDeleteThe deer are beautiful - but I have mixed feelings about them being fed. As you mention, they became a little too accustomed... I need to do a declutter. One day. Soon. YAM xx
I guess people feed wild animals so we can see them. I do this but with much smaller critters. With deer, perhaps they feed them so they won't eat plants in their garden. Some days I feel lonesome for the kids. I'm OK if they call. Corey is so good about it, but his business is taking off and he is a lot more busy than he was when he moved out west. For once I am focused on sewing.

I believe we should never feed wildlife. that said I love the photos and they are beautiful... I understand the lonesome thing, even though we have our hubbies. women need other people once in a while. the reason I still go to TOPS is not the weight loss thing, but every Thursday I spend 3 hours with a group of women and am away from home. is there a club of somekind you could join? quilting maybe? waiting to see what you start next. I have a cabinet under the nook that I have had on the to do list for over a year. I want/need to get in it but just cant seem to do it... I will open the doors, sit in front of it and think, why bother and close the doors.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I love the backroads too. We take them often, to see the countryside and stop easily to take things in.
ReplyDeleteI love the sky shot. Those clouds are so pretty. What a treat to see the deer so close, even if it is because they are being fed.
ReplyDeleteA lovely series of photos Rose, so sorry Lorelei had to go home because she was feeling unwell. Sounds like you had a special time with your family. Those deer, aren't they just gorgeous? I haven't seen any for a while but am always looking when we go on the country roads.
ReplyDeleteGlad you received a visit from someone you love. Sorry it had to end prematurely. Looking forward to seeing what you make with the fabric. You put it into my head that I need to clean out a few cupboards and donate things that I don't use anymore too.
ReplyDeleteTrue, deer are really scary and shy.
ReplyDeleteI do like your sky shot, the clouds look great.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Our sky today looked just like your picture. I love days like this too.
ReplyDeleteNice that you got to see the deer up close like that.
It is one of the things I love living where we do. We so enjoy watching the deer out back.
Ahh so cute photos darling

Beautiful shots of the sky and good looking deer. Sometimes it is tough to give away things because we feel that we might need them one day. Lol!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures of the deer. I know they're considered a nuisance by many, but they are so beautiful. Lovely sky picture as well.
ReplyDeleteYou write such a beautiful blog while I guess I am a person of few words. I enjoy your words so much.
ReplyDeleteI too love a blue sky with fat clouds. So beautiful. We have well fed deer here too although we done feed them with grain they love cleaning up under the apple trees and browsing the garden. I don't mind sharing.
I am sorry to hear that Miss L has asthma. Not a fun thing I imagine.
