What's happening....

I got the binding sewn on my daughter's quilt...just the first round by machine, and have started the hand stitching part.  Normally I can whip through a full or queen in about 3 days, but have not touched this today.  And last night when I started it was no walk in the park.  the thread wanted to tangle, even after using beeswax on it.  It knotted up at every little stitch, and I even had to break it once, and take out stitches enough to thread the needle till I could finish off that bit of sewing till it would not come undone.

I got this fabric panel in the hopes it will inspire a baby quilt...  The way things are going, it is questionable whether I will get anything done any time soon.  but isn't it cute?

I have been doing things in baby steps it seems.   Cannot seem to totally finish anything.  I got boxes broken down again...still have a few but they would not fit into the box I was using.   I  order some of the pet supplies from Chewy because it saves Roger and I from handling some of the heavier items so many times.   Then there are things we order from Amazon on a regular basis...so we always have quite a few boxes at the end of 4 or 5 months.

I have had to let the leaves go but today got a few more raked up.  Roger kept coming to check on me...it is too hard on him to try to help, but he feels guilty if he don't.  So all I did was 4 big bags.   The leaves were still damp from the snow, and still some snow on the ground out behind the garage because it doesn't get much sun.   We saw ice still on a couple roads today.  I could not believe there was any left any where.

**********
Roger went to bed with a headache...any time he has one it still scares me so bad.  Specially right at first.  I can usually talk to myself and remember that this is to be expected...but it takes a while to settle down and not be on edge.  Lately he stumbles so easily.  I cannot tell you how many times I have thought sure he was going to fall.  Oh, it may not be every day,  but it probably is every other day.  Besides the fall in the bedroom two or three weeks ago, I think he has only fallen twice...and one of those he fell back on the bed.  So in ways not a fall, but if the bed had not been there, he would have been on the floor.

It is funny...at night, Bubbie always has to go over to him in his chair but he always comes back to me.  When he was young, Bubbie was all Roger's and our daughter's....I was only needed when he was hungry.  But boy has he changed to a mama's boy.

I guess I will hush for this night....I hope you all have a good week ahead...

  1. I like the fabric panel and it is so cute. Looks like Bubbie knows that Roger is not well and Bubbie is going to you for comfort and love. Pray that Roger and you stay safe.

  2. I love that material you bought. That is so cute.
I know you worry constantly about Roger. Just remember all the worry in the world won't help him or YOU! God has this. I keep you in my prayers and ask for complete healing for Roger.

  3. All my love to you and Roger. I know how scary it is to watch when someone you love is not well. My husband often had fainting spells and would end up on the floor sometimes. I used to feel so helpless as he was a big man and I was not able to help him back up. All I could do was be there with him and for him, and call for help when needed.
The fabric panel is so sweet. Just perfect for a baby.

  5. actually what you describe here with thread snarling and all that stuff, is why I hate to sew. I did not know it happens to people who CAN sew, I thought it was just me.. love the squares, love the colors... all four of our dogs that are gone now, were Bobs Dogs, all of them. Big is MINE, my first ever dog that is mine. all our dogs growing up loved my brother, they were outside dogs and so was he. I was inside reading. then the dogs we had when my kids were growing up, loved my youngest son and slept with him. it is nice having my own dog.

  6. That IS cute fabric for a kid's quilt. I gave up on the leaves. I don't care one little bit about them, though I did blow them off on the driveway near the garage door. One time ice formed on the leaves there and our door froze to the ground. Terry will go out and blow the leaves while he cuts them with the riding mower. Did I mention that I don't care about those leaves? lol. I worry about Terry falling too. He has fallen several times this year. Usually he can tell if he's going to have an unsteady day and uses a cane just in case. I order a lot of things on line. I order heavy things we don't want to carry ourselves. I order things I just don't want to shop for especially in the winter.

  7. It has to be scary for you when Roger has a headache. My mother had an inoperable aneurysm and I was always nervous around her when she had pain, not knowing what to expect. I always prayed to know what to do and how to handle any situation I was in with her. The prayer gave me peace.

  8. Your daughter's quilt is beautiful! I know what you mean about the aggravations of thread tangling. I used to use beeswax then changed to Thread Heaven and I like it better. The panel you found for the baby quilt is cute. Any little one would love a quilt made with that. I hope you and Roger have a good week.

  9. It must be worrisome to have Roger in less than good health and all the responsibilities fall on you.

  10. The fabric panel for a child's quilt is very bright and cheery! I wonder why your thread keeps snarling. I hope you get that straightened out so you can go ahead and sew without having to deal with the snarls.

I hope Roger doesn't have any more falls. I'm not surprised that you live in fear of what might happen. I would too!

  11. I love your daughter's quilt! The panel you got for the baby quilt will make a little one very happy with those bright colors. I hate it too when your thread tangles. I started using Thread Heaven and like it a little better than the beeswax. I hope you and Roger have a good week.

  14. I really like the material in your daughter's quilt, and I think the panel will make a nice baby's quilt. Take care and don't do too much outside. Those leaves seem like they multiply faster than you can rake and scoop.

  16. Every time you put up a picture of your quilts it makes me want to stop, get up and go sew myself. You are such an inspiration. However, I can't get to my sewing machine for the big pile of mending stacked on the ironing board.
