Almost great shots...

I thought I would post a photo or two...

These are from right outside our dining room window.

***********
It is a cold night here in the Heartland.  Was slushing as it got dark...you know a cross between snow and rain.  It is supposed to get bitter cold tonight, too.

Roger and I both have horrible colds...his throat was sore and his cough is a real cough, not his chronic cough.  I had scratchy throat yesterday an today I have all the typical symptoms of a cold...runny nose, watery eyes, scratchy throat.  Hopefully the symptoms won't last too long.  Daughter and I had planned to sew Saturday but we have cancelled that.

I continue to work on my leaves...I have 39 finished...no new pics.

I am reading Adventure North by Sean Bloomfield....I got it for free back in 2017.  It is a pretty good read.   I get two or three newletters that give lists of books that are either free or low in price.  I have got some good books that way.

I hope everyone else can avoid this cold...it is no fun.  I don't feel horrible...I just don't feel good.  LOL

  1. Glad you have found a book you like. I also like to get free and cheap books downloaded to my Kindle. I get an email from BookBub every day with books like that. I love your pictures of the birds. So sorry to hear you are under the weather. My husband also has a cough so off to the doctor we go on Friday. Have a good one and I will see you again soon!

  2. I hope you both get better real soon! We believe it is good to get a cold once in awhile, it keeps your immune system in good shape. These shots are not almost great. They ARE GREAT!!! I adore this first one.

  3. Hope you feel better soon. So far this winter I have been able to avoid a cold. The cold weather, well that's another story. It was -18F here today and windy. COLD!!!

  4. Great photos!! I'm often disappointed in the pictures I take, especially indoors. Don't know if it's me or my simple point-and-shoot camera.
I hope you feel better soon. Being sick is no fun at all. ( I'm gargling with salt water these days hoping to cure a constant need to clear my throat).

  5. Hubby is recovering from a slight cold and I think I have got the cold from him, am beginning to feel the symptoms. Over here, people are wary of those who have cold because of the contagious virus.

  6. Those are wonderful close up shots! I love the mourning dove - that is my favorite bird because it's call reminds me of being at my Grandmother's house. I sure hope you both get to feeling better fast! If not, get to the doctor because you know this flu is really going around bad this year. Take care of yourselves!

Had that cold, done with it... lots of fresh fruit (especially pomegranate) and hot lemon drinks. A week and it was gone.

Over here, slush is the snow on the ground which is melting. Rain and snow falling together is sleet. It always fascinates me how terms mutate in different parts of the world!

Be well, and quick. YAM xx

  11. Great pictures. I sure love watching the birds and squirrels.
Hope you both feel better quickly. Stay in and stay warm and take whatever you can to help. Lots of Vit. C and zinc always help me.
We got about an inch of snow and expecting a little more today. Tonight is supposed to get so cold.
    Stay warm and feel better.

  12. Seems like everyone is suffering from some sort of winter something or other. Hope you guys get over yours soon. We have had just one dove visiting our feeders. Wonder if he/she lost their mate. I'm wondering if we will have birds where we are moving. There are no trees on the property. Guess I'll have to wait to get there to find out.
    xx, Carol

  13. I always pick up to colds the grandkids get in school. After I retired and before the grandkids arrived, I didn’t have colds for years. I’d take the colds any day if it meant time with the kids however.

  14. But these are great shots. The birds are so pretty. I can never get a good picture of birds with my little cheap camera. Hope you and Roger get over your colds soon. Take care.

  15. Sure hope you and Roger feel better soon. No fun having a cold.

  16. I would be thrilled to get a few "almost great shots" as good as these! Last year, when a hawk kept trying to prey on the song birds at the feeders, I redesigned the feeding area to make it more difficult for the hawk. But, on the down side it is now more difficult for me to see the birds. I hope the two of you can shake the colds. If it is the same thing I have had, it is a tough one to get over. Take care!

  18. Nice close-ups of the birds (even with the tops of their heads missing).
Hope you and Roger are feeling better. There seems to be so much sickness going around.

  19. Sorry about your cold. I hope by now you both are feeling better. I like that first shot of the bird...almost like he is trying to communicate with you~!

  20. that little red bird is gorgeous... these are all really good shots. I like it when it is close up and shows parts of anything and not the whole.

  21. Oh no! I hope this winter cold does not last long. Be careful, pamper yourself and spend time curled up with a good book. That is the best thing for a cold!

  22. Cute pics though I am real sorry you both have bad colds. Have you ever mixed hot water with lemon juice, honey and ginger? It is a very comforting drink when you have a cold.

I hope you both get better very soon :)
