Job finished...

Daughter was here last weekend, and came back yesterday.

We finished her curtains for her living room.

They are 90 inches long.   She originally wanted them to just touch the carpet, but while we were making them she said she did not mind if they puddled a bit.  Good thing.

I am always afraid when making something like this that one will end up a lot shorter or longer than the other one, but my daughter did the measuring and cutting for these.  I was strictly the pinner and sewer.

I am starting to make the backing for my latest crumb quilt top.  I make these quilt tops trying to just use what I have here.  But almost every time, I like them so much I want to buy a backing that I pick out just for them.  I finally remembered some fabric that I bought on sale and am going to use it...i will have to chose some more fabric use with it, to make it big enough.

I have been reading The Good Good Pig by Sy Montgomery...it was one of those I got for a couple dollars.  For the most part, it is an okay book...but there are moments that I do absolutely love it.  And some that bore me.  Still, it is fun to take advantage of the warm days and sit in the swing and read.  I try to do that some every day.  It is one of the things I miss most in the cold winters.

I will leave you with a Jeanne Robertson video...

I'll look forward to seeing the completed crumb quilt. You sure get your quilts made quickly! It seems like it takes me forever but I usually have too many projects going at once.

  8. Your daughter's home is absolutely stunning and I would love to live there if I had a maid to take care of such a big house. And add to cook for that too. I can see that Delta is really impressed with the puddling of the beautiful curtains. I love the way she has the one sofa set up with a little table by the sad that you could sit device on. Good job to both of you. Her home could be in Good Housekeeping on the cover

  10. I would think it would be nicer if the curtains were a little shorter, but my taste doesn't count here, I think the color and pattern are pretty and match the room!

  14. The curtains look wonderful - you both did a great job. I like the quilt on the back of the couch also.

It has been way too hot here to spend any time outside - I'm ready for Fall.

  16. I too like the little bit of "puddle". And love the fact she has colored walls! (I really like color instead of the "hospital sterile" shades of white so many people have these days.)

  19. That's a very cosy little room, I like the way you've furnished it. I love the big dresser (what you would call a hutch, I think). But I have to say one of my pet hates is puddling curtains - our curtains have to be off the floor! And tell me, are those just small windows above the large ones, or are they some form of air conditioning?

  20. Beautiful home your daughter has.. The curtains are gorgeous... Seems like the style these days is lots of white/gray/beige... Since I'm an old lady I still prefer more color. I guess I need to 'get with the program'.... ha ha

I Love Jeanne Robertson... She's so so so funny...

I also love sitting on the swing early in the morning and reading (and watching the birds)... We do our devotions out there most every morning (depending upon the weather)...

    Have a great week.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  21. I had no idea what the catch phrase would be from Left Brain - how amazing and yep, sure wouldn't go on one of Jeanne gigs again if it was me! A good early morning chuckle from me, thanks...

  22. What a gorgeous living room! I love it. I am on your site trying to get inspired to do some sewing. Yesterday I shopped for curtains and was horrified by the price tags and poor workmanship - hanging threads, crooked and puckered seams, uneven hems, and for this, they were asking a king's ransom!
I will read a few more of your posts and then I will get up and get to work. Thanks for sharing. It helps me.
