A finish of a different sort

Remember, you can right click and click on the photo to view in a new tab or window and get a bigger version to see. As you can see the wolf is made of a gazillion different photos.

I have told the story before of this puzzle...well, actually this is not the one given to me.  My friends husband sent the original and on a note in it, he said to work it or burn it...he did not care which.  Which tells you it was hard.  He always had a puzzle out on their pool table for his spare moments.

Anyway, I had the original out several years ago, and the door to the bedroom got left open and the cats got on it, chewed up some pieces.  I have no idea why.  But they were beyond use, and knocked pieces everywhere.  Some fell behind the piece of furniture and I just could not move it at the time.  So I put it away and don't know what I eventually did with it.

Needless to say, I ended up getting on Amazon later, and ordering a new one.  And it has sat for years waiting for me to have the time to work it.  And a way to work it without the cats interfering.  I knew if it took my friend's husband a while to work it, it would take me a good while.

I am usually a pretty quick puzzle worker...but I have had this out since I think in February...the last half.  But there were a few weeks when I barely touched it, as in maybe one 20-30 minute session.  And I still had to keep it covered so I could not just pass by and search for a piece.   I did get serious about getting it finished after I finished Lorelei's turtle and spend a good part of my spare time this past 10 days working on it.

I don't know why, but I can do just fine working the lighter parts of the puzzle...but I know it took me at least twice as long to work the dark portions.  But it is done at last.  And I feel like a bird that has just been set free.

  1. Wow, that's a really cool puzzle. I have never seen one like that before. I can imagine it must have been pretty hard. I haven't done a real puzzle in a very long time.

  2. wow, i don't know how you did this. I am not good at puzzles at all! would not even dream of trying this.. IF you had a DOG not cats, you could simply put it on the counter out of reach.. that is a message from Beau

  4. Wow...this looks so very challenging. Not sure I'd want to tackle it. High 5, Rose, for getting it done. Did you get the list pieces from the cats playing?

  5. I can see why that puzzle is hard. I wouldn't have the patience.

  6. Wow, what a special puzzle. But it DOES look terribly hard. Yu would not be able to look at a piece and tell which part of the puzzle it goes in. We have one like this in our church. It is Jesus, but each piece is a photo of a church member.

  8. Congratulations of finishing the puzzle. Wow, this is a challenging puzzle to say the least. I love making puzzles and I made very large one with 5000 pieces and my husband glued it to a piece of plywood and framed it. It now hangs above my desk in the office. It called Midsummer Night Dream. A bunch of fairies . It was very challenging to make it because of it size. I work on puzzles in the winter.

    Take care and stay well.

  10. Congratulations! I can tell that is a hard puzzle! I doubt that I could complete that one. It really is a beautiful one and had to be challenging.

  12. An impressive accomplishment, I wonder if I could have finished it. I love the fact that it is a wolf. I do online puzzles but they only have 400 or so pieces. This one looks like a much larger one. I also have a couple of puzzles still in their boxes unwrapped. I keep saying I am going to open them up one day. Congratulations on completing this one Rose :)

  14. awesome finish - I've never even done a full puzzle, although I do have one here, a gift but I've no idea where I would "do it" as my table already has dual occupation - meals and craft making

  17. Good job! My Mom and Sister always loved working puzzles but I never could understand why. On Thanksgiving, they would clear the table and then open a new puzzle to begin working. I tried to help but got frustrated. I can appreciated how much you have done because I could never do it myself.
