When all else is impossible...

When I cannot settle myself or decide what to sew, I can always sew crumb blocks.  The above crumb blocks are from the scraps my friend, Joy, sent me.

I have also been making a few of these little squares...they are only 4 inches square unfinished...when they are in a quilt they will be 3 1/2 inches square. Again, the fabrics are from those scraps my friend sent me.

The exception is the center of the one below...

See that fabric in the center?  It is more than 50 years old.  It is from the dress I made in Home Economics back in the day!  It is still good...not rotten.  I would love to have a yard or two of it now.  I still just love it.

Roger seems to have settled down.  He sleeps longer without getting up and is staying up later than he did there for a long while.

I will leave you a shot of Jeremy with his new fashion accessory...

  3. How lovely that you can always sew those pretty quilt squares and find enjoyment. You have a gift for sewing ( one I used to wish I had too).
Right now I'm using a placemat that is pieced together much like what you make ( I got it at the thrift store.)

  5. Sometimes I think fabric from the "old days" was better quality and lasted longer - or maybe I only look today at cheaper fabrics!!
Love your last photo. Pets are so wonderful :) xx

  6. still laughing out loud. I love the dog hat. I love the piece from the past, the color is all over my house. I think you use your crumb block stitiching like I use reading a book. it shuts down the mind, lifts the depression, makes me forget what I don't want to think about.

  9. Your talented in assembling colors for your quilt block is amazing.
It looks like Roger's mind is more at peace now that he knows he has someone to assist him when he needs it and he feels more relaxed.
Your move was the right choice.

    Happy Mother's Day.
    Hugs, Julia

  12. I love your crumb block quilts. How special to have a piece of fabric which you used so long ago. I like those square blocks. Those will be nice when you get enough of them done for a quilt.

  16. I remember Home Economic class. It was where I learned to sew and use my first microwave! It was so new no one could afford to buy one for their home. They had a class on how to use it because nobody had ever seen one. One girl was afraid of it and would move to the other side of the room.
Times have really changed and I'm getting old.
