Three views of the same barn....it is another barn that I really, really like. A few years ago, I was afraid it was starting to go downhill because part of the roofing was torn loose, then last year some doors were blown almost off and hanging by one hinge. I was surprised and very happy to see the roof repaired--can you imagine who had the nerve to climb up there. It was on the very top peak that the roofing was blown loose. And they took the doors down, so it is still a handsome barn.

  1. This is about the biggest I've seen... I did not pay them much attention untill I came across them while blogging. Now I really like to see them. Is there a special name for these barns?

  2. If they have a special name I do not know it...I have often wondered what this one was used for. We go fishing in the creek near it, and I have never seen anyone at it. If I did, I would ask them about it and also ask to go in and look around...

  3. Rose ~ this barn is amazing...would it be considered a "tobacco barn" the top section able to be opened for air to circulate for drying the tobacco leaves? Just curious and WHAT A NEAT BARN! And I need to tell you I am looking more closely at barns as I travel, because you have introduced me to how different and unique they can be!

  4. I know that now no one around here grows tobacco...maybe they did years and years ago...I bet I have at least 25 pictures of this barn. In fact, I am beginning to have a real collection of barn pictures. I am slowly but surely making the attempt to capture all the wooden barns around here...one of these days they will be a thing of the past.

  5. Hi Rose..
    Twice now ha!...
I missed the old rake ou the top picture, it seems rather rusty now and forgotten, as for the metal seat... my friend as one on his 1956 tractor and it is very comfy.

I'm glad you are photographing these old barns... one day your collection might come in very handy. I bet if you got in touch with the local libuary they would be interested.
