Camera Critters

Another year has come and gone, and during that year, I have seen more geese than I ever thought imaginable. When growing up in Tennessee, it was an event if I seen geese flying high overhead...let alone up close and personal. The ones above are some of the locals that stay down at the river down town. Where I see them in great numbers is out at the strip pits.
Almost always we take this one road away from the strip pits that leads past this pasture. If I stop to take a picture of something, these horses always stop and look. Sometimes they are clear across the field but still look to see...I think they must be treated very well by someone cause you can tell they expect something good to happen.
I don't know why the picture below turned out the way it did...I am thinking it might have to do with there being so much actual black in the picture. I did mess with it a little bit, but couldn't come up with anything I liked so just left it as it is.
Don't you just want to reach out and scratch this little fellow behind the ears?

  7. There's a lot of critters to enjoy in your part of the world. Its true about getting a good photo when the primary subjects are white and black. It's a balancing game and always a challenge to figure out what to meter off of.

  20. I'm always amazed at how alert some animals are, how they often see us way before we are aware of them.

Some horses are extremely friendly and sociable.

  22. A fine series of interesting pictures. The horses look to be doing very well. The cattle all facing each other create a final focal point in that picture! Yes, a scratch or two would look appropriate to this guy. Nice post.
