A place for all seasons....

I was looking back through the archives, looking for something to convert to sepia tones for Sepia Scenes.
I noticed these pictures from the strip pit area...every time I see them I wish I was sitting out there drinking in the view.
I don't care what time of year I am out there, I am wishing that the land belonged to the Dept. of Natural Resoures for all future generations to enjoy.
If I were to turn and look back the other way, there would be a house or two in view. I do understand why people post the land...but I long to walk through the tall grass, and see what is over the next hill.
Or to sit by the edge of the strip pit and just see what comes along. At some of the strip pits there are beaver houses...and at strip pits we used to have access to, we seen beaver quite often. Now the roads that run past that particular strip pit has gates across the road and everyone is locked out. I can only see it from a distance.

If we were to ever move from Indiana, my heart would miss this area shown here more than any other.

I love seeing the same picture in all four seasons. That is neat, Rose. Is all of the areas around you that FLAT??? I remember when George took me to Crown Point---I couldn't get over how flat everything was up there!!!!

Hugs,
Betsy--the Mountain Girl!!!

It's easy to look at these and see why you enjoy it there. It is beautiful in all kinds of weather.
It's just a little flat for this mountain girl. :)

Did you find a sepia pic? I'm looking for something good too.

Yes Betsy, everything is flat around here. Southern IN is hilly. I like all the shots .... they last one is the one I like the least. :)

This favorite areas presented through the seasons makes a fine post to share with us. Fine pictures individually, but collectively even better.

I love these seasonal shots! You obviously love that view :-) Each one is perfect. I like our stripper pit area, too and would like to get back there but have stayed away while the roads were bad. Maybe this weekend. We are at 10 today, but it will be in the 50's this weekend! Crazy Indiana weather!

Rose I always enjoy the pictures from this place and it's easy to see why you love it so much. I like the next to the last picture best. The browns are always my favorite.

I especially like the first of these with the vivid greens - I'm not sure what a "strip-pit" is as this is unfamiliar topography for me
