I thought I would share a couple more shots from the strip pits for Camera Crittters. I have more of pheasants taken another night--they were fighting. You can see them HERE.
And I have been trying and trying to capture a red-winged blackbird and not having much luck with a sharp picture. This one was the best of that night's attempts.

Nice bird photos. It's hard to capture a redwing blackbird being still enouth to photograph.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos!
ReplyDeleteThe top one reminds me of the best-ever photograph I didn't get: I was driving, and as I came around a bend there were two pheasants in the road. I hit the brakes and they flew up in the air, all grace and beauty, and BONK! they flew right into each other and fell backwards down to the road. I was laughing so hard I couldn't drive farther, and they finally staggered off into the hedge, shaking their heads and feathers. I love country moments.
such a beauty that pheqsant I've only seen them far away Sandy
ReplyDeleteabsolutely beautiful, nice capture. thanks for the visit...
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I've never seen a redwinged black bird. Cool..
ReplyDeleteMine is up over at Feather, Fur, and Fins.
I do not believe I have ever seen a pheasant before. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHappy Critturday!

Just hangin’ around at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
The pheasants around here seem to like hanging around on the roads! Daft things! :) Great pictures.
ReplyDeleteLovely captures. I have'ne see a pheasant for ages.
ReplyDeleteThey really stand out against that background too!
ReplyDeleteI think that's a great RWBB shot, they way you got him right on that long bend-y stalk giving you a scolding for taking his pic! Neat!!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo of the pheasant!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the red-wing. I posted an image the other day. I haven't been able to get the red spot.
I look at this way Rose - it gives us something to keep striving for.
These are both great photos. I've never been quick enough to catch a pheasant. And the red-wings that I have good photos of were lured with cracked corn.
ReplyDeleteI'm REALLY loving that pheasant photo! That is spectacular!
ReplyDeleteTwo very different subjects and both well captured! Nice of the Red Wing to show off his bars :-)
ReplyDeleteRose: I love the ringneck but don't see them in the wild anymore. I have been getting a lot of Red Wing Blackbirds and they are interesting to capture.
ReplyDeleteStriking red on them!
ReplyDeleteI played too :)
The pheasant is a great capture!!
ReplyDeleteThese are harder birds for me to capture on camera around here... you did a nice job!!
I think you had great success on both captures. These birds are so elusive and spook so easily. A remarkably close shot. The red-winged blackbird shot is very good too.
ReplyDeleteI love how he's resting on the very tip of the branch
ReplyDeleteNice pheasant shot! I'm still trying to get a good shot of a red-winged blackbird too. I want on sitting on a cattail. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think you did quite well with the red-winged blackbird. The picture of the pheasant is also very good.
ReplyDeleteLove the pheasant photo. Never seen one.
