This is from back in May, a place we came across that I just loved. And would love to know more about. You can tell that it is well loved. Everything was so neat and tidy all about the place.
I don't understand the chains hanging down between the porch pillars/posts. I am really curious about that.
This is a fine looking home. I like the pillars across the porch. I can't imagine what the chains are for.
ReplyDeleteNice one.
I agree with you and Don - a beautiful little house, but it's almost maddening wanting to know what those chains are for!!
ReplyDeleteMysterious chains???
ReplyDeleteI love old stone homes. There is one near my brother's home that I have admired for years. There are many in Virginia. Even though they are stone they seem to have a warmth about them.
It is a tidy little place, isn't it? I have no idea what the chains are for!
ReplyDeleteNeat house! My guess on the chains, maybe for Ivy or Morning Glories to climb...but how will the get there :>)? Hmmmmm inquiring minds need to know...watch for the answer for us please Rose ☺!
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, I too love to look at unique houses ---and wonder what went on there in the past... Sometimes I'm tempted to knock on the door and ask someone about the history of the house. Have you done that yet?????
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great day.
Hugs,
Betsy
Hi Rose... is this house as old as it looks... the cladding and fitting all seem to be uPVC. As for the chains they seem to be fitted into moticed hole in the posts which might then allow them to be moved up or down in some way.. Intesting building, as the more I look at it the more modern the parts of it look.
ReplyDeleteYes the house is really neat but why those chains ? Did you get an answer ?
ReplyDeleteIs that rock or brick? Is this an old home - remodeled? It really IS very well kept, nice yard!
ReplyDeleteYour header photo is AWESOME! Is that the strip pits?
Beautiful home...I too would love to know, "Why the chains?
ReplyDeleteI can't think of any reason for those chains! How odd! The ones in the middle would keep you from walking up to the front door.
