Notes on migration

No, not migration of birds. Migration of stuff. Books to be more specific. When our older daughter moved out, I took over her bedroom with my books and desk and file cabinets. I never dreamed she would be moving so far away. I didn't even think Sarah would be moving far enough away to want to spend the night ever again.

Being that they have both moved, and return home from time to time....we are slowly trying to clear out that bedroom till we can set up a spare bed for them when they come home. I don't have a lot of books...I try my best not to buy too many. I try to find the ones I want to read at the library. Yet I have several books that I consider among my treasures. Most of the ones that are fiction, I don't mind moving downstairs.

However, even some of those I want up here. Plus there are the non-fiction books such as Sod & Stubble, and Grass of the Earth and several other books that are letters, or diaries about settling the prairie and the west, diaries of covered wagon women...I just cannot bare to put those where I cannot get to them. So, a slow migration of stuff has begun....I am trying to take my time and enjoy looking at the books and making decisions...

I see books that I think, oh, I want to read that again, or this one will remind me so much of home...just never enough hours in the day to read all I want and to blog all I want...so it is back to the job for me...

But I will leave you with this little video....

And no, it is not Lorelei...if you can believe that. It is a video my nephew sent me. I think it is so much fun to watch.

So wonderful! You have to wonder what they are both thinking...great video. Now, about books! :-) I own more than you can shake a stick at!!!! I am an incurable book hound, I guess. Thanks so much for commenting on my blog, Rose. We do miss Dad so much.

Cute video, Rose. Made me smile!!!!! Thanks!

We have book shelves in our laundry room (around the entire room)... That helps us with all of our books....

Good Luck trying to get rid of stuff.. It's HARD.
Hugs,
Betsy

WOW!!!! Rose, thank you for so many comments on my blog. It MUST be a lot easier now. I haven't quite gotten used to it yet. I will "play" with it more when I get back home. I'm at my daughter's now. If fact, right now, I am in the Apple Store (on one of their computers) in Knoxville. My iphone has gone crazy, and I depend on it a lot for my e-mail and facebook, especially when I am away from home! I'm anxiously awaiting to reading more of your blog. I think we have a lot in common. At the moment, I can't remember if you have commented on them or not.

I can appreciate your book problem. I have everything filled and some in boxes where they are of no use! :-)
I enjoyed the video.

Rose, I think I deleted part of the above comment. I didn't see the part where I ask you if you had seen the quilt squares I am working on now. sorry for being so crazy. I'm not used to this laptop.

If I hadn't seen this I never would have believed an owl and a pussy cat could be such friends!

I admire you for clearing the room of so many books. I need to do the same!

Oh my gosh, they're friends! That's so strange, but sooo cool! It's funny how the cat paws at the owl at times... where are they?

I find it hard to get rid of certain books as well, but I've had to do it since our house is not all that large. Now I get ebooks whenever possible.

I loved that video. Sorting out books is hard. We've been going through a lot and getting rid of some. Some of them I thought I would always want, but I guess I finally changed my mind. Going through my jigsaw puzzles is harder....but I got rid of about 50of them. (don't ask how many I have left)
