Visitors....

These photos all enlarge, and there are a couple more photos over on Time Stand Still of these sparrows in the brush...also, all of these do enlarge.

I had been meaning to photograph them for a while...and this evening I was sitting here with Bubbie in my lap. He was snoozing...I glanced out there to see the evening light hitting the sparrows and though what a perfect time to shoot them. But I didn't want to make The Bubbie get up, but Roger came in and it startled him so he jumped up on his own. By the time I got out there a cloud or two was passing through and I missed some of the best light. But at least I got some.
The nuthatch flitted in and out so quick it was hard to get a photo of it at all...not sure if it is only one or if there are more than on.

The tufted titmouse was slower showing up than the other birds...but eventually there were two or three of them at the feeder...

I don't know if the cardinal had been there earlier and i missed him, or if this was taken on his first visit...he did not stay long.

I sit at my computer and cannot do anything on it because I am so preoccupied with the birds. The minute I put my camera down, the red-bellied woodpecker came but he flew with my slightest move. Also a blue jay flitted in and out of the view a couple times.

I passed the 10,000 photo mark on one of my cameras today...it started over with Image 0001....I think my other DSLR has over 9,000 photos on it. Can you image what that would have cost to take all those in film and had them developed? That alone would be crippling to the budget, let alone if you have photos printed of any of them.

  1. That is exactly what happens to me... I love watching the birds ---and because we had SNOW today, they FLOCKED to the feeders... I tried to take a few pictures --but they aren't very good...

Love your pictures... That Cardinal is enjoying his dinner... AND--I love the little nuthatch and the tufted titmouse... CUTE!!!

    Hugs,

  2. I hate to think what my photo count is...Our cardinals are not coming to the feeder this winter and I'm not sure why.

  3. That first picture, the birds are like leaves on the tree! When I put the feeder close enough to get a good shot, I scare them standing by the window. If I put it farther away, I can't get such a good picture. We need to buy camouflage outfits to snap the birds!!! CUTE nuthatch!!!

  4. You have some great pictures here. There are so many wee birds in your first picture and your bird feeder looks as if it is very popular. :)

  5. call the first one "the gathering" I love it and if all this was out my window i would not be able to work either. I passed that 10,000 on my old camera many years ago and am now working my way rapidly up to that on the new one. lots of deleting going on and happy no film is involved.

  7. You get such a nice variety of birds at your feeder. I can see why it's difficult to put your camera down. Nice bird shots…every one.

  8. Love these shots, especially of all the sparrows. I stood at the window with my camera a lot last winter. It's a good time to get photos when they are at the feeders. Even then, they aren't still for very long to get very good shots...at least for me!

  11. You got some really great photos, even though you were worried you wouldn't get many good ones. I love that pretty feeder. Looks like the birds in your yard are VERY happy it is out there! I missed a couple of shots this morning by being too slow, so I know what you mean, though!

Beautiful sunset, by the way! Wow! Thanks for coming by and commenting on our "Adventure"...yes, I will be wanting to go back again and again!

  12. When I am watching birds, I am the same way. I get nothing else done but watching them and taking pictures of them. Those are great pictures of the birds. Lots of sparrows in those bushes!
