Just a little post...

We ran around all day today, and during that ran through the strip pit and by the farm that has the cattle I photograph quite often.  I was so relieved to see them...the last time I was by there I did not see hide nor hair of them and thought maybe they had sold them.

It is also the place that had horses I photographed sometimes.  I do think they are gone....I have not seen them in ages.  And I miss seeing them.  Always feel like the animals at this place have been handled a lot because they always look at us as if they expect a treat or kind word or something.
***********
We have just had regular cable TV forever...this evening a kid came by with DirecTV.  Roger has been wanting to try something new forever...and truth be told I have too...but all the places I check do not have our favorite PBS station, and this is one of those that don't have it.  But the PBS station it does have has Masterpiece Theater/mystery and that is one show that I just would not give up.

Anyway, does anyone that reads this have DirecTv and do you like it?  What has been your experience with it?  It does have the Game Show Network which I would enjoy sometimes...but it does not have the Outdoor Channel, and Roger will miss that.  I just now noticed it is missing, so will have to remember to tell him in the morn to see if he still wants to change...not that he watches it a lot.  But it is something that he does sometimes.

  1. Love the cows...we used to have them and I sure enjoyed having them but then again I didn't have to do the work either. We did the hay one year and the heat index was 114*....that did me in.

  2. Love the cow. Her horns are way cool! We have directTV. That's all we have ever had. Outdoor channel is on 606. But you have to pay for it. I like history, discovery etc. Mostly I listen to the 800 range channels. That's all music. :) Cameron likes it because it has that DVR thing where you can record shows and such. I have no idea how that works. The TV is his area! lol

  3. We had Direct T.V. for over 10 years and loved it! We had it in High Def. But last year we changed to a local provider. This is because Direct T.V. usually goes up. In ten years ours went from $29.00 to over $90.00. PLUS they did not have all our local channels. Now they are wanting us back, they say they have a Genius box that can record five shows at once. Plus you can go back in time and record things. We may go back because now are having trouble with our local company. Still, we are saving fifty dollars a month.

  4. Great photo!
We have a similar satellite provider and our favourite stations are PBS, History, Oasis, Discovery, a bunch of movie channels and of course CBC plus we listen to the music/radio on the 800 channels. What we like the best is if we miss the 10 o'clock national news, we can time shift to another city in another time zone.

  6. Nice photo! My Dad had Direcct TV and I never liked it. The whole set-up along with a complicated guide, was a pain. We have Dish Network and really like it. The guide is easy to use and understand, etc. Has all the programming we want, and you buy different packages.

  7. we have always had cable and love it, we have Brighthouse and would not consider changing... we don't do vacations or travel or buy gifts or spend money on theme parks, so we consider our expensive cable our vacation. we get bob's sport channels and was the original reason for getting the HD package but now i am hooked on the DVR that i can record and watch on demand. it depends on what you watch and how much you like it.
i love that cow. she is beautiful. great shot

  8. This is a strong "cow" image. I like the cow's concentration on the camera person. I have no experience with DirecTV.

  9. We have it, Rose, and have had it for several years. We love it--and seldom have problems with it.. The only time we lose reception is when there's a very hard rain. But--even that doesn't last for a long time... I would highly recommend it.

We changed from Cable (which was more expensive). And at that time, Cable (Comcast) didn't have fiber-optics in our area, so the reception was poor. BUT--we would NEVER go back to cable.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  10. In reading others' comments, we also have the DVR thing where we can record up to 5 shows at one time. You pay for it--but we love it...

Just make sure you get the local stations which you want . With cable, we would have gotten Nashville stations --but with DirecTV, we get the Knoxville stations which we like...

Also--the DirecTV people come and set up everything for you (as part of the plan)--so you don't have to read anything. In fact, we have never had to read anything from them. They do it all for us... AND--I've heard horrible things about DishTV....

    Just my thoughts.
    Love,
    Betsy

  12. Betsy has already told you that we are very happy with DirecTV. I just want to verify that fact. I also want to say that I like your picture.

  13. I would need to keep PBS and the masterpiece theater mystery too. I wish we could all select the shows we want...so many are just a waste. Love the cow...:)
