One of my favorite things....

Every time I look at this, I feel joy.  My BFF made it for me last year.  I don't think I have ever shown it to you.  I grabbed some quick shots this evening.  I want to encourage you to click on the photos to expand the view...the small size just does not do them justice.
So many beads, so many stitches...
everything done by hand.
I love the little chickadees, but I cannot say I love them best.  I love this poinsettia, and love the holly leaves,
and don't you just love the scene as a whole?

It is tempting to leave it out all the time...but I don't.

Do you have a favorite gift or treasure someone has given you.    If so, how about sharing it in the comments.

Hi Rose, What an extraordinary gift from the heart! Such a beautiful scene. I did enlarge and the details are stunning. I was looking thru my old jewelry box just this week and saw a watch that my parents gave me when I graduated high school. I know with two other kids in college at the time, that they struggled to buy me that nice watch. It means a lot to me.

Oh how lovely!

I have a glass pen, the kind you dip into the ink, which the Great Scot got me last year... he knows how much I love pens of every kind.

Gorgeous, and I imagine the time that took to finish! I have several treasures that mean so much to me, but at Christmas I have to say my favorite are all the ornaments that I saved from my kid's school days. I hope I can pass them on to my grandchildren when I am gone.

it is really beautiful and all that detail had to take hours of work. yes, i have a gift that comes to mind. it is a statue of Mary and Jesus riding on a donkey with Joseph walking beside. it stays out all year and has for about 10 or 12 years

Wow that is really a perfect gift from the heart. what a good friend you have. she must be so special and think highly of you. The stitching is perfection. I love it as a whole.
I do have a special gift a good friend made for me. when my Mother passed away in 2011 Erma took the yarn my Mother was knitting with and Erma had lots of granny squares already made up she (Erma) made me a beautiful afghan with the blue yarn my Mother was using.
It is in the front room and I use it all the time.

The very finest of gifts--made by hand with previous time and skill. Beautiful reminder of your friendship .

Oh, that is so pretty! What a lovely gift! You know it had to take some time to do such beautiful handwork.

My favorite treasures are the fine crocheted Christmas ornaments (snowflakes, bells, and angels) made for us by my mom, her mom, and a former neighbor of ours when Mike and I were newlyweds. I cry every time I decorate the tree with them, because these special women have all passed on, but know the ornaments were all made with love.

Your love of this piece is partly because it's beautiful, but mostly because you know the love that was captured in ever stitch. It's definitely a heirloom.
