The other day I sat down at my sewing machine for a little while...and I stitched a couple mug mats/coasters. They are just big enough to set a coffee cup or glass of iced tea on...Or a cold can of coke. They are 5 inches scare and just some snips of fabric, and the binding was binding left over from quilts. I was glad to find a use for the binding. I made another one yesterday but have not photographed it. Oh, sorry for the quality of the photo...shot with my cheap phone.

We had a warm day here today...but of course had therapy appts so didn't do anything else. Other than cooking and dishes. Hopefully tomorrow I will get a something done...even if it is just another mug mat.
I like the mug mats; what a great use for leftover binding. These would be very useful! Glad you got in a little sewing. Hope you both rest well.
ReplyDeleteI have some of these that my grandmother made for me. I love them and yours look great!
ReplyDeleteA little bit of stitching is good for the soul :)
ReplyDeleteYou have inspired me...I love your crumb quilts and have tried to make some crumb "fabric" - never going to happen. Most of what I have done are about 5 inches square - perfect for coasters. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteThese are really cute.I love the look of quilted items, but have no desire to do it myself.
ReplyDeleteThese are too pretty to sit wet food and drinks on. I hope the therapy is going well.
ReplyDeleteLittle creations!
ReplyDeleteI just bought two mug mats and had to pay 3 dollars for the two. wish I could make my own.. these are great to me
ReplyDeleteI have days that I look back on the day and think "what did I accomplish?" I have learned to dismiss that thought. The accomplishment is not in the material things you count, but in the intangibles.

Very nice. They remind me of my quilter Mom. Also reminds me that I now have the time to make some pieced potholders for Christmas gifts. Aaahhh, retirement.
ReplyDeleteCute! I have a lot of left-over bindings from quilts. This would be a great way to use it up.
